Pubs in Bideford, Devon*
The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Bideford.
Pubs
- BOG12'S CIDER DE-PRESS
- Tavern in the Port.
- The Talbot Inn, known as "The No 1" not because it is No 1 High Street, but it was the first place to get a telephone in Bideford. This is a 300 year old Grade 2 listed building which was originally a bonded warehouse. Now a traditional boozer under the new management and owners Robson Bros Ltd.
You can enjoy less expensive drinks here, and the juke box has an eclectic range of music to suit all tastes. Fridays and Saturdays are good for "pulling".
- Talbot Inn (Update)
This is under new management, by Robson Bros Ltd. Chris, one of the three brothers is the Landlord, and ensures that it's a pub "where everybody knows your name, and are always glad you came".
The No1, as it is known locally, is still a traditional boozer, but the local psychos have been banned so you can safely enjoy a pint without the previous threat of getting into a fight!
Probably the best Cappuchino/Expresso coffee to be had in town.
The juke box has a truely eclectic mix of music. Something for all tastes.
- Tyr the Tavern - everyone else does! Be especially nice to Christine!
- The Kings Arms is great for all ages, even us recycled teenagers.
- Patch and Parrot- seedy but cheep booze, Tavern- uncomfortable chairs, a fairly large chav population but karaoke on Thursdays and Fridays, Portabello- pretty good atmosphere, pity about the electronic jukebox, The Talbot- small with nasty toilets, but the best jukebox in town
- The pubs are the only growth industry in Bideford, take your pick really. The Tavern (Bridge Street) is fairly cheap (well always used to be) and usually crammed on weekend nights. Mostly a young crowd. I was once told that there were more pubs per person in Bideford than anywhere else in the country, but I'm sure I've been told the same thing about at least two other places!
- TAVERN TOP BAR ON A SAT NIGHT PERVS PARADISE
- loads of pubs!!!!! too many to name
- Try The Blacksmiths Arms, Torrington street, they have bands every Friday/Saturday, are open till 1am on these days, they also have a fantastic menu, and are kid friendly, last but not least, the beer is served full of flavour and by friendly locals!!!!
- Tavern,Kings, No 1, Heavitree, Crabbys, Quigleys and if your desperate for a fight, GB revolution, mind you you can get anything in there.....TB,VD,MRSA the plague, it really is fab.
- The Kings Arms - good food and accommodation. www.kingsarmsbideford.co.uk
- get your arse down to the tavern if u wana drink where u no every1
- The patch and parrott is quite possibly the scariest pub Ive ever been in.... one of bidefords finest!
- Joiners Arms is still a great pub but the new landlords have stopped the lockin culture. Shame!
- Palladium, New inn, Tavern.
- Crabby Dicks has finally brought some class to the drinking holes of Bideford!
This pub has it all, cheap beer, big screen TVs & fit barmaids. Fantastic!
- Crabby Dicks! Owned by the Bradicks family! The name ( an anogram of Bradicks) attracts many interesting people!
Route 69 (66) for those who love to dance!
- Crabby Dicks is wicked! It's always busy, but has Air Conditioning which is cool coz it never gets too hot! They're part of the Cleaner Air thing. There's also this big fish that hangs down between the 2 floors. There were bets to see who could swing on it on New Year's 2001/2002 so Braddick took it down. I don't see how that's going to stop anyone though mate!! Hehe!
- Palladium, Tavern, New inn - I mean the Old Coach inn.
- the patch and parrot is the latest teenie pub
- the first in last out clovelly road your never the first in and you are rarely the last to leave
- Stallones pub has just opened. Its ideal to get you in the mood before you go upstairs to the club.
- all got seweside junkies!
- Kings Arms is a good place to go and get ratted before moving on. It does cheap double vodka's and cokes and you wont fing that kinda price elsewhere in Bideford. Get rather bust though but clears out at 10:30 when everyone goes to ceasars...just follow the first sheep that leaves!!!!
- The good thing bout the pubs in Bideford is that there sooo close together! This makes for easy stumbling from one to another. Top route to take: Start @ the tavern, then kings arms, then no 1 then heavertree, then Dj's, then Taquila Jacks (formaly Custom House) then on to Route 66 (AKA the all seasons) finally u then have a choice of Stallones, Cheezers or the unmentionable Asylym (Ivory Club or Cleos what ever u want 2 call it!) lastly if ur still standing head off for a burger from the only 2am impy ever!! ENJOY!
- The Talbot Inn, or Number 1 to the locals, is a great place Friday and Saturday nights especially if you like ABBA.Drinks usually cheaper than other pubs.
On the corner of No1 High St and The Quay you will find the Tomestone where deals were struck on market day.Tomestones were known as "nails" hence the expression "pay on the nail".
A few psychos may occupy The No1 at other times and chances are you will see the Landladys boyfriend "Cookie" propping up the far end of the bar !
- The Westleigh Inn at Westleigh is one of the best village pubs around. Friendly with good pub food
- The Tavern in The Port, beer starts at just £1.10 pint, spirits £1.20 double, bottled beer £1.00. Entertainment on Sundays, the best place in Bideford, probably! Visit our website http://www.soft.net.uk/port
- They're all dangerous if you don't have a dumbo hick accent !! I used to get threatened every night I went out there.
- The White Hart on the narrow street behindthe Spar. Tiny and very friendly. I only go in about once a year, and the always remember me!
- The Portobello anf The Joiner's Arms both do lockins!
- Unfortunately the Seasons has now closed.
- The King's Arms on the Quay, especially cool on New Year's Eve - fancy dress rules!!
- The Farmers arms at Woolsery (woolfardisworthy) is worth checking out for a beer. It used to be my Local before I moved back upcountry. SKL
- Dj's sports bar
- Don't forget the fabulous inn at nearby Sheepwash!
- I'm confused why you've mentioned Sheepswash which is miles out in the sticks. Are you trying to be sarcastic? If you were mentioning Speepswash, you could have mentioned that popular TV presenter Noel Edmonds lives out there!
- Tavern in the Port.
- Custom House.
