The places where you buy your music

You can tell us more about Bideford.

Record Shops
  • I think Discovery has now moved to Barnstaple, just off the the main square behind the Hotel according to Matt with the hat
  • discovery records has closed-for at least the time being.and just to say,the guy who ran the place was a really nice freindly guy,who went out of his way to assist the general public.who`s life was made a misery by bidefords increasingly large number of chavs & dickheads who seem to get off by giving decent people grief.
  • NEW SHOP JUST OPENED!!! Called Drunken "Jim's Glory Hole", Sells Punk Rock cds DVDs, Party Poppers, Cider in a sack, and mac~10's. Plus 10 thousand more items of goodness. Visit now: 666 Stucley Road, Bideford, North Devon, Ex39 8jf \m/ (o..o) \m/ _Rock On!!!
  • Discovery do have a few hidden gems among the rubbish and smell of damp.
  • Tend to go online in Bideofrd library to hunt for cheap cds these days.
  • not a lot of choice for buying records but discovery records sell secondhand ones
  • Talk to Stuarat at Bideford bay Guitars for advice about the best music and where to get it.
  • The only place to buy any records is Disc-overy, get it??... Disc... overy!! Oh, that's genius. Anyway, go in to look at old records/comics/crazy dude with top hat called Matt, and then leave.
  • Go to discovery, just off the High Street, the only place for music in Bideford, if not go to Barnstaple i guess
  • other than discovary non
  • upfront barnstaple
  • Could I just point out that Discovery - the best music/book shop in N.Devon let alone Bideford is still going - lots of new stuff in every month and seriously cheap prices.Kev now runs it on a day to day basis but Pete is still around - in between being Mayor of Bideford (true!)
  • Unfourtualty , discovery records is no longer with us....and hasn't been for about 2 years now. There is ,however, a cd shop in the wonderful 'Atlantic Village Shopping Centre', although theres rarely anything worth buying there! If you want cd's go to 'solo' in barnstaple, or better still Exeter/Bristol.
  • Matt the Hat now has his own record shop in Barnstaple, which is definitely worth checking out. Discovery is still a good point of Biddy tho...
  • Discovery and err Woolworths.
  • Only specialist shop is Discovery. Upbeat is long-gone!
  • Discovery everything else has shut down
  • No really good record shops in Bideford - if you pop into woolworths, make sure you say hello to nat rivans!!
  • Discovery (off the high st) is run by the friendly but slightly dubious Matt. Good records though.
  • There's Woolworths, but that's a dump.
  • Upbeat is the local indie, it has most mainstream stuff, lots of indie and a few rarities. If you can't find what you want you can usually order it. They also have T-Shirts, postcards and similar merchandise and some videos.
  • The best record shop is Discovery Records. Go here to get hold of second hand records and lots of rarities. Also tapes and demos from Fluid Emmissions (local record label) info on local gigs, bands and what they're doing. They also sell second hand books and videos, but they're specifically a record shop. Run by Peter Christie, and the bloke in the hat (Matthew Poulton). LONG LIVE THE REVOLOUTION!!!
