Hi
I am visiting Bideford soon. To admire the lovely scenery and to see the church " St Mary's in Bideford. Where there are a couple of memorial plaques dedicated to the two Daughters and wife that dies within a year of eachother.
I know that my ancestor " Admiral John Daniel Cochet lived in Mill Street, Bideford from 1826 until his death in 1851.
Does anyone know the exact house that he lived in? And does anyone know where he may of been buried. The main graveyard at St mary's was full up by 1849 - so not there.
Thank you so much for any help you can give.
Kind Regards

More ‘Votes’ Than Evening Post – Bristol Indymedia – Publish Your News!
SOUTH WEST WELCOME!
PUBLISH YOUR NEWS
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE ARTICLES - A Brief Guide
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org/newswire.php?story_id=25376
Bristol Indymedia now routinely gets more 'Votes' than the Evening Post ‘This Is Bristol’ website, according to the Google PageRank method! If you do a 'Bristol' on UK Google, Bristol Indymedia comes out at around 7th - 8th place, and jostles for position with the 'This Is Bristol' website. Join in with the movement to democratise Bristol’s corporate dominated media landscape; Publish Your News Now! It's only a click away! Click the 'Submit An Article' button and your story will appear on the right-hand newswire within minutes of posting.
BRISTOL INDYMEDIA - Read It, Write It, Your Site, Your News...
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org
PUBLISH YOUR NEWS
(South West Welcome)
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org/publish.php
Even though our newswire carries the banner 'Read It, Write It, Your Site, Your News...' it seems that not everyone is yet aware that this means exactly what it says. The 'Submit An Article' button, in the top-right corner, takes you to our article submission form. All you need to do is fill in all the form, click the 'Preview Before Publishing' button at the end of the form, to check it looks ok, and then click 'Edit Again' or the 'Publish!' button. If you have any problems filling out the form, or with uploading articles, please see our brief guide above.
PUBLISH YOUR EVENT
(South West Welcome)
http://bristol.indymedia.org/whatson/calendar.php
If you have an event to promote you can use our calendar too. Again, just like with the newswire, all you need to do is click 'Add Your Event' and follow the instructions, and your event will be immediately displayed in the calendar. If your event has an interesting report attached to it, then you can turn that into an article too, on the main newswire, to go with your calendar entry.
GUIDELINES
Only if your article is outside of, or breaks, guidelines will it be moved from the right-hand newswire.

I am answering Jean Paynter's message and I have also been trying to find boarders at Stella Maris. I was there from 1960 to 1963 and my class had Jean Paynter, Anne Herriott, some other boarders were Delsena, Izena, Raquel, Debika, Nazi, Sousan, to name a few. I have a large photo showing the whole school including the teachers - Sister Anne was headmistress. I would love to hear from anyone who was there at that time. ... more >>

| 446 Internet Radio Gateway in Bideford Area
|
by uk511 (Member 10159394) on 22-Jul-2005
|
Welcome to the info page for the PMR 446 Mhz Internet Gateway in the Bideford area
it operates on the following Channel: 4 CTCSS: 19 Operating Hours: not 24 hrs yet
There are PMR446 Internet Gateways up and down the UK and now across the world that anybody with a PMR446 radio can have access to. As an example of how this works, someone within range of my gateway link can talk through that link, over the internet, and out through another gateway in, say, Belgium or Australia. Someone within range of that second gateway can then communicate back and thus establish a conversation.
Accessing the gateway using your PMR446 Radio
All the gateways operate a CTCSS access system which requires a CTCSS capable radio with CTCSS set to 127.3Hz (CTCSS tone 19 on most radios).
To access the gateway set your radio to Channel 4, CTCSS code 19
The gateway is very easy to use. You use it as you would with a normal one to one communication, no callsigns are required, just call CQ or just a straightforward 'Hello, this is X calling from Y, anyone copy?' and you might be surprised who comes back to you as there are gateways all over the world. Note that there can often be a delay from the station that you are speaking to and don't forget to wait for the pips after their over before you transmit. It is also best to press the PTT button on your radio and wait a second before speaking to make sure the beginning of your over doesn't get cut off. If you don't have CTCSS on your radio you won't be able to transmit to the gateway but you will still be able to listen in on Channel 4.
When the system is idle the gateway will play this voice message every 10 minutes identifying the gateway. This message was generated using The Festival Speech Synthesis System on Linux.
During the week the network is fairly quiet during the daytime with most activity taking place during the evening and at the weekend but if it is quiet call CQ, a lot of people are monitoring even if they're not talking...
There are just a few Do's and Don'ts that will help keep the network sane: Don't swear, don't use call or ring tones, do switch off 'roger beeps' if possible.
thank you from the gateway keeper and we hope you will use and enjoy this free service who knows you could maybe link up with lost freinds and chat with them from all over the world ... more >>
