- Birkenhead was planned to be the great wonder of 19th century Europe. Then the economic wheels fell off, the River Mersey died, and it's been in a long, slow decline ever since. It's sad to see the fading glories being bulldozed away, one by one, and in their place the hideous and characterless anonymity of much modern building. Really, who in their right mind could love anything built in Birkenhead since 1950? The planners have had no idea, and sadly the present population are too filthy in their habits to keep what's left even looking clean.
- Birkenhead is in a state of transition with its traditional industries becoming defunct and the workforce adapting to the changed demands.
I love to come back and see how it has developed or changed and to catch up with friends and family.
- Beware of people in nighties

- For those people who slag off Birkenhead compare it to living in Londonor manchester, It might be dirty and run down, it always was but at least the people are friendly at least the odd drunk talks to you in the pub. Its no worse than most places , everywhere has its bad streets , remember if you dont like it you can always move to Manchester or London. and if you live in london , liverpool or mManchster and want to slag it off, look at your own hovells first.. like Southall, Huyton or salford See.. no better are they
- Big night on 2 December. Christmas Tree-fireworks-music etc.... check it out... and then try a meal afterwards!
- You forgot something: Birkenhead is the home of the famous Tranmere Rovers! I would tell you more wonders of the town but since I left Birkenhead five years ago and don't miss it much, I would be a bit of a hypocrite.
- You haven't mentioned the docks or hardly anything positive about the town or the fact that it's got a good museum (and I have relatives living there).
- I had never been out of austraila before visting faimly in birkenhead. I found it hard to belive that people could live like that or how they were not sick because of the lack of higine
