  • Beadesaurus in the Oasis market by Argos is a great place to buy beads and jewellery makings. Also sells funky jewellery (nothing like Accessorize!), body jewellery and bags. The manager is very knowledgable and they play some great music in there too. If you're into art/fashion magazines, the Ikon Bookshop, in the Ikon Gallery, Brindleyplace (just off Broad Street) is a great place to look - a wide range of mags you just won't get in high street shops.
  • the Custard factory is an up and coming arts centre, sprucing up the Digbeth area with hip galleries and studios
  • Ah.... the custard factory.

  • The Ikon Gallery in John Bright Street has the best cutting-edge modern art outside London. Check out The Bond Gallery in Fazeley Street, Digbeth and nearby The Custard Factory, a much respected conversion into bars and arts space characterised by beautiful people and a bustle of creativity; a surprise find here and a great asset to the city. Also: mac, at Cannon Hill Park. Top arts centre.
