The Best Things
- don't be daft
- The best thing in blackheath is the fantastic NEW aromatherapy stall, Enrapturing sell handmade soap, shower gels, bath fizzers, body scrubs, hair treatments etc etc.
I have used their soaps for psoriasis and eczema and they are excellently priced compared to high street shop who sell the equivalent.
- Tne average Blackheathian who are nearly always cheeful, courteous without affectation, friendly, equipped with bawdy good humour and down-to-earth in a town that's often down-at-heel.
- The Blue Moon Cafe on the high street. The banter between manager, staff and customers could inspire Peter Kay for years to com. Also only Sainsburys seem to stock the Guardian and Independent (see also The Worst Things).
- The market has quite a friendly and vital vibe. Some endearing tat nestles amongst the fruit & veg, draperies and doggie food delis. A decent second hand paperback stand, dovetailed with a local history store and sellers of stuff I've not seen since the days of the Bettaware catalogues. The sound of people greeting each other with enthusiastic banter is very refreshing, nearly everyone seems up for a chat of some kind. Shame the cd/dvd stall near the cafe has gone, the staff on nearby counters used to croon along with sounds of the 60/70's compilations that hissed out on tinny speakers. Also I'm quite fond of the library, nice building and a calm oasis away from the high street. Every local library deserves your support.
- None at all its a dump
- The people are ace, it's just that Sandwell seem to forget that Blackheath town centre exists.
- The 140 bus that takes you to Dudley one way or Birmingham the other.
- sainsburys at night
- there really is nothing. honestly. the place is the real life version of royston vasey.
- The people are generally friendly and any local thugs (you get thugs in EVERY town, so at least I'm being honest) haven't the intelligence to do anything which would frighten most people. Blackheath is close to a number of really great places and is interesting in it's own right. The old time boozers like the Cali, the Vine, the (little) Beech Tree and the New Inn are friendly enough if you persevere and start to be recognised as a bit of a regular. I have a love-hate relationship with Blackheath - I've lived there all my life...
- Cheap Trousers
- shell corner
birdys park
the two mosques next 2 each other
- The best thing is its home, and every time i go there i remeber all my school mates from BRIT and the fun we had pissing around
- the friendly kids!
and Jade Silva
- You pass through it quickly on the way to somewhere else
- The fact that it is very convenient for Dudley, Merry Hill, Halesowen, and Birmingham.
