  • every1 stuck together thats the best thing.... but The Derby & Secrets stand out as the best 4 me...
  • Watts Lane. If ever there was a great place to live its there. The cemetary was so romantic on those foggy days back in the 60s
  • people
  • Miss Liverpool coming home in January. Born in Netherton Marie Curie Ave, Went to The Countess of Derby Highschool, moved to Bootle when I was 10. • Kerry's bar on the dock road. Formerly known as Nina's. Formerly known as the dockers hook. Cheap ale, strippers 3 times a week, cheap dock road prostitutes and they don't throw you out for smoking pot. Cool.

It's been ayear since I left, not that far away but I'm still homesick and will always considor myself a true Bootle-ite, as I have been for 30 odd years.

  • Best Best
  • It's very quick to leave Bootle and go to Liverpool which is much more interesting
Meanwhile:
  • Bootle has great street names. I love Bibby's Lane! Wonder who Bibby was?
  • I too used to walk down Bibby's Lane waiting for the ghost to appear but it never did.
  • Boegart Bibby here... I can tell you that "bibbing" is a term for drinking. "Bibby's Lane" was probably more well known as "Down Where the Drunkards Roll".
  • The Bibby in Bibby's lane refers to the shipping family, who used to own big chunks of Bootle along with the Molenyeux's.
  • The Hawthorne in Hawthorne road refers to Nathaniel Hawthorne the american writer who was American Ambassador to the Port of Liverpool, and lived near the Jawbone pub (which still had a whales jawbone in it up to the early eighties), Liverpool and Bootle being a big whaling Port.
  • Bootle also has a minor football team , which in the early days of the FA far out shone Everton and Liverpool, and had what is possibly the first FA Cup song, in the 1890's, for a tie against (I think) Blackburn, with an amusing ditty entitled "There's going to be a Game Today Proud Bootle will be there." Needless to say they lost.
  • Also the biggest thing about Bootle is the GIRO Bank, I saw Harold Wilson open it when I was a kid, I was gutted as they built it on some of the best footie pitches for miles.
  • Other stars from Bootle are Chris Crummy who was a drummer with the Searchers and Billy J. Kramer who sang "Listen do you want to know a secret" Billy's family lived by the Orrell Park library.
  • The people who live in Bootle. Funniest people on the face of the earth. I am proud to say I was born there.
  • Keith Chegwin is the best, although Bootle smells slighly of fish!
