- Edgar Wallace lived here from 1928 to 1932 where the Vendanta centre is now. Enid Byton lived in Coldmoorholme Lane at Old Thatch 1929 to 1938. Many of her books were written from here with reference to Old Thatch and Bourne End.

- Not a resident, but theoriginal exterior of Fawlty Towers was in Cores End(very near BE) at one point, but was burnt to the ground many years back by vandals. The site was left as it was for some time, before finally being cleared and a houce built over its ruins.
- 80s icon 'Get fit Lizzy' from GMTV used to swan around in a fake fur coat with 'I love Mickey Mouse' design on it.
- Legend has it there is a troll in the feilds by THE WYE VALLEY SCHOOL. Bexter, The Wye Valley Troll, has stared in many local fictionalised stories by a local writer.
