I dont know how anyone can slag off such a wonderful city, I have lived in Brechin for most of my life and i have to say I have got no problems about the place for many number of reasons,
1. people are great to get on with, there is always someone who knows someone, that would be able to get you anything you want, and i mean anything!!
2. if someone fuck you off there is always someone willing to get paid very little ie; couple of joints, to go and give that someone a battering or even worse!!
3. Half the Population of Brechin are wanna be drug dealers so it should not be a problem getting any form or amount of drugs that you require, depends on who you know for the quality!!
4. Pubs, there are more pubs in Brechin than most Brechiners realize, the best one has to be Springfield(The Springer) it is full of farmers and wanna be gangsters so you are bount to get a decent conversation out of someone wheather it be about ploughing fields and who has the best sound system in there John Deere or someone getting a hiding cause someone is dealing more drugs than soemone else. Allstars must come close to be the best pub also, I mean it must still be full of "bikes" so you will still get a shag when u go there on a saturday night, just be careful on who you go with, you can change the name of a pub as many timies as you like but it will still have the same reputation!
5. The best place for a Teenager to hang out is the Bus Stop(the big one across the road from Mackies), I mean it has got plenty of seating arrangement, it is warm(in the summer), you get to see all the tossers spinnin there wheels going round the roundabout and acting hard in there cars with there normally shit music banging from the opened windows(even in the winter time) and it has that urine feel about it.
6. The Policeing is great, you can actually commit murder and get away with it, it has been proven many of times, all you need to do is plead insanity, the police are to busy playing chess or some other boring bored game to care what is going on in Brechin, most of the Police know who does what anyway and can not be arsed to do anything about it, it is that easy to do anything and get away with it in Brechin. Keep up the good work Officers!
7. Corsa'a and Saxo's, I mean what is the deal with them?, are all you young drivers tractor drivin loons that can not afford a decent car that you have to spend your dole manoey dicking up a shit car to look even more shityer than what it was before?, Well actually to contradict myself slightly there is one Corsa I do like, a red one that looks like it might want to be a Mitsubishi Evo, go on (you know who you are) just get the bonnet vents and you have your self a little Evo, oh fuck I forgot about your pishy 1.2 engine or whatever it is, better upgrade that to a 1.4 or something a little quicker!, your car has plenty of potential so dont stop there!! To those of you that have got Neon's fitted to the underbody of your car, please guys you are supposed to hide them not have them dangling for full view of everyone, they are supposed to be hidding from view so that it looks like your car is floating, not to show that you have wonderful coulored tubes lighting up the road.
8. I dont know why people moan that there is nothing to do in Brechin, there is loads to do, just use your imagination(for those of you that has taken to much drugs you might want to think harder, your imagination may have got a battering over the years from exsesive drug abuse), you can go to Montrose, Arbroath, Dundee, Aberdeen there are many things to do just think about it.
Anyway got to go, bye for now, until my next post!! ... more >>

I strongly suspect that the creators of the movie 'Deliverance' must have passed through Brechin and upon seeing the townspeople, got the idea for the 'banjo player' and his kin.

yes, if you go down to the dennies behind the abitiour, you can hear frantic banjo playing above the roar of scrambler motorbikes!

When Flicks had their 'mind-blowing' laser show, they always used to play a particular song just as it finished. Any ideas what it was? This has been bugging me for years!
- Re: Flicks Nightclub
by Bill Butchart (Member 10084933) on 10-Dec-2002
Hi,
I was the DJ at Flicks during most of the busy days. Myself and Jamie Hawke ran the light show at 10.00pm every opening night. The light show music consisted of a mix of star wars and superman theme music and we came out of the light show with the track Menergy by Sylvester.
A lot of clubgoers today would be amazed that the venue was always full in these days from 9.00pm and we had to start preparing for the night usually about 7.30pm with the messages for the TV's and preparing the videos for the night. Nothing quite like it at all, even now! ... more >>

Bill,
You are a complete star!!! The track was Menergy that I was looking for. I really didn't have much hope of finding out I can't believe I did after all this time!!
I'm in the process of searching P2P programs now in the hope of getting a copy.
Can't wait to download it and start reminiscing about old times *sighs*
Thank you for replying - you've made my day! :o) ... more >>

Hi
Was looking to finding out about the boys that ran Ficks in Brechin as i went there every week and got to know them all Stuart Peter Ron Jim who was on the door and looked like Billy Connelly Jamie in the Dj booth
I was on a flight one day from London to Aberdeen and thought i knew the guy sitting accross the isle from me anyway next to me was a very well dressed business woman and as you do we started to make conversation and i said i thought i knew the guy across the isle she said that was her boss i asked his name she said Ron Farquharson i said was he at Flicks in Brechin she said yes thats where it all started for him i asked what he was doing now she said he owns lots of companies in the UK America and Canada
I wanted to dig deeper so i asked what they were that he owned the woman was very open about it all and told me that she was one of his operations people and there was 8 of them on the plane coming back from a board meeting in London and that he owns nightclubs Cinemas pubs restaurants hotels and property in the UK America Canada i asked if he was ok to work for she said he was a really down to earth chap and great to work for an wealth hadnt gone to his head. so he was the man that made it from Flicks big style i got to meet him when we got off the plane and had a long chat and said Flicks in Brechin still has a huge place in his heart and has thought about buying it back but doesnt think it would take a trick in this day and age he must still live local to the flicks building as he says that every time he passes it now he closes his eyes in disgust at the state its in.
He went on to say that the two guys that started Flicks Mike Stuart gave him the drive to go out into business as he had watched them work and took it from them as they are two great guys as the woman said on the plane he was very down to earth but so switched on i have since found out that the woman was very modist in what she told me as he has a huge Empire which is kept very low key as he is himself and has offices in Glasgow London Vancouver Seattle.
As we walked towards thedoor to leave the Airport and go home a young stunning woman walked towards us and said to Ron hi dad did you have a good trip and planted a huge kiss on his cheek and before he could say anything else she blurted out oh by the way there is a huge bash in your new car but it wasnt my fault he just laughed and said in a broad accent yi dinna kill onybody did yi she replied no i hit Mums new ... more >>

Hi folks I would like to tell everybody about the band that was in the Bolag on sat,16th they were Doss!!! you should make a point of going to see them, that singer was fucking great not to mention the guitarist's. I was sorry to hear their normal rythym guitarist was not there because he broke his leg though but anayway thats all.
P.S.just a little note to the girl that fell over the band's stuff and who insidently scratched a guitar that she is reminded that if you are going to do that again it might be better if she wore some nickers or mabey not come to think about it because I got a doss veiw as it were. ... more >>
