Pubs in Bridgend, Bridgend*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Bridgend.

Pubs
  • Only one that is commendable: O'Neill's, at the top of town, away from all the other pubs/bars. No lowlifes hanging outside there at 10 am after a signing-on appointment. Too far for them to walk. Excellent quality food and well-priced drinks. Avoid all other pubs in area.
  • The Church, Lava Ignite great place for a drink
  • Codies on Sunday with the Rodeo Willy!
  • www.saphirebridgend.co.uk wine and cafe bar has a fun and friendly atmosphere, come in and say hello.
  • Five Bells, Coity Castle, Pelican, Sea Lawns, 3 Golden Cups
  • the roof is looking better its just been re-done and it looks good, so i can go in there get pissed then go next door and look at some gorge birds in lucindas sweet!
  • The Wyndham Arms (cheap food and drink, and probably the best in town), PS Bar, Toll House, 3 Horse Shoes, plus about 20 more others around the town centre.
  • the pelican is the nicest pint in bridgend
  • wetherspoons, 87 pints for £10, wicked.
  • DOnt go to anywhere in bridgend if you hate the valley commndos
  • Foxes Wine Bar - the refined place to drink
  • Witherspoons is the cheapest by far. And the jugs of cocktail they make are pretty nice (I recommend the chocolate one). Three Horseshoes has the cheapest pool table. Two Brewers is may favourite though, but that's only cos of the hot Irish barmaid (Don't tell her I said that though) and the booming juebox.
  • The Tollhouse always good for a laugh, always busy and twenty thousand million times better than the cruddy roof. Tuskers is ok but the service in there is the slowest ever, you can grow a beard waiting for a pint.
  • i would have to say the Litten tree WAS the best place to go on any night of the week, untill that is, all the decent looking barmaids left!! Where are you ladies, especially the avril lavigne look alike who was friends with the lesbian. Sharmain?? by the way, this thing seriously needs updating.
  • O'neils Wetherspoons most chillin places in town
  • never seen a pub in bridgend myself, yeah right every other building.
  • Tusker (a Barracuda chain pub)is the nicest, then probaby the Courthouse. The Weatherspoons ('Spoons'...how original)is okay but the bar staff didn't get much change when they sold their manners to the highest bidder. DO NOT go to the Shoes, despite what everyone else has written, their comments are all out of date. The only people in the shoes are stupid little skater wannabes and dirty old men (and women too now I come to think about it).
  • Welcome to Town. A yellow pup, college students like it they are fresh faced though. All the pubs are like clubs realy
  • The P.S. (Park Street) O'neils The Toll House (Jaggers) The Courthouse The Roof The Old Castle The Coity Castle The Pen-Y-bont Bowlers The Five Bells The Welcome to town The Prince of Wales Monroe's The Litten Tree The Tusker The Three Horseshoes Witherspoons The Pheasant (Pen-Y-Fai) The Haywain (Brackla) The Two Brewers (Brackla) The Hunters Lodge (Brackla) The Ty-risha (The Pines)
  • The Tollhouse, a good mix of ages, quite strict doormen, good music every night brilliant offers on a Friday open till 2am and just been done out and have the comfiest sofas in the whole world ever!!
  • Bridgend, Bridgend, Bridgend. Oh my fkin god. Never in the history of man has there been a place which is so utterly deviod of anything apart from tossers, slappers, theme bars, fights, and really (no I mean really) dodgy food. The place is a black-hole, I should know I lived there for 23 years. Its now infested with so many VC (or should that be VD) it beggers belief. There should be passport control - keep those freeks in there and the rest of the civilised world out. Go to Cardiff, even Swansea, shite, Camarthen's better than this place. STAY AWAY - UNCLEAN
  • The Colliers in aberkenfig always serves up a good variety of entertainment every friday night. Offering good service, good food and a very good atmosphere with of course our very own personal drunk, always there for cheap entertainment(or to just poke fun at) is Sunny. He is often found in the back room (also known as the smoke room) sitting oppsite the large mirror with his ginger hair and never an empty pint. If you do come along on a friday night please do buy him a drink as this will contribute to your entertainment as the evening draws on
  • pen y bont is the best pub in town.i always thought it was an old peoples pub,but there is a mixture of awesome people in there.dont comment till u give it a try on a saturday night!
  • THE WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Bring back Ant the d.j for the Litten tree
  • Bridgend is a Real Ale desert. The local Weatherspoons although better than the rest is a poor also-ran when compared with others in the chain. Good pint of Bank's from the Prince of Wales in Coychurch though with friendly regulars. For true real ale get on the train to Pontyclun, then walk back westbound about 1/2 mile through the industrial estate which brings you out at the Level Crossing at Tyla Garw. Turn left at the Crossing (ie do not go over the crossing)and you are at The Boars Head, Mid Glam CAMRA pub of the year. You will never get a duff pint here, they rarely last long enough to go off. See www.the-rats.org
  • perfect pool the place to be if you like geting stoned or drunk. bewair though it is raided on a regula basis.
  • Jaggers(aka The toll house)- best pub in twn, good music and cheap drinks!!! Moneros- full of fat, old, smelly, perverted men!!! STEER CLEAR!!!! Cody's- not a bad pub- drinks way 2 expensive!!! but not a bad place for the more mature!
  • dont go to kebab shops in bridgend their filthy and give you a bad stoumach in the morning
  • The Roof is ok as is The Shoes and O'Neils.
  • The Tollhouse (the bar formely known as jaggers) although most people are to stupid to realise it had changed its name in 1998.One of the busier bars in town now that Astons has burn't down. Fridays are the best days for the offers.
  • I am suprised that no-one has mentioned the Pen-y-bont Inn that has become very popular recently. They have a great atmosphere, a great band that plays every month (The Crayons), fab bar staff, a football team that meets up every Sunday for a piss up and it really is the place to meet people. Try it out you will be suprised (I know it looks like an old peoples pub from the outside, but it is a GREAT pub.)
  • DONT GO TO THE RED DRAGON THEY TRY TO BAN EVERY ONE.
  • The Pelican in Her Piety (the Pelican to you and me) is Shit, don't eat there whatever you do. The Mackworth in Laleston, make sure IOLO doing his thing, though.
  • All the pubs are full of embrios in mini skirts and men in Ben Sherman shirts.
  • how can you ask for more the riverside tavern (fomerly jolly brewer I think that name waz better never mind eh?) it's right next to the Brewery Field Where you can see something exciting every year they have a cool fireworks display well i didn't mean the rugby team there they suck total waste of money
  • the rooof...
  • PS, The Roof, Coity Castle, Wyndham Arms, Vic,
  • refuge from Maesteg`s just plain bad people- But hey all the Wank*rs you want to get away from are all here. All the Sluts, all the tight teeshirts, refuge my arse. Please stay with the Towneys. you deserve each other!!!!!
  • the best place about bridgend is thats its 25mins from swansea!
  • The Roof and Astons are the only places 2 go. Hyper is a dive 4 slappers and druggies ive never gone there and never will, seeing the stoned and tarty losers in the queue is enuf 2 put ne1 off!! Sax is crap and too expensive and bowlers is full of kiddies, codys is ok but gets too busy and there r too many oldies. Ive also seen that white haired, red faced old biddy lurking the streets, so beware!!!!!!
  • THe Haywain in Brackla. Home to those fit birds who play Hockey for Bridgend. Mmmmm nice.
  • the roof has added steven john (the nutter), to its staff. bit dodgy that, considering that he normally sprints out of clubs or pubs whenever a song not to his liking is played. so if you'd like to see him lose his job simply request sterophonic or limp bizkit songs all nite.
  • the five bells-check out blandy's steaks and smile!!!
  • the shoes will be re opening soon, can't wait. the old people of the shoes got hyper! thats where the jugs have gone and they are £2.00 cheaper. only cost £5 er now!!!!
  • Weatherspoons, for reasonable prices but very little atmosphere. The Roof, nice in the summer with a convenient concrete garden. The Three Horseshoes, a bit dingy with unreasonable prices, but incredibly over-staffed since new management so bar-wait time is very short.
  • www.skin-n-ink.com is the place to go for tattoos and piercings in Wales, especially Bridgend as it's the only one IN Bridgend. Go and have some body art done and visit the web site... Please, this is my no-cost marketing strategy for the Web site... Have a quick look...
  • The Haywain (Not so fat Owain the man you want is Chris) has a mixed croud with a good rang of food and drink soon to be over halled!
  • Go to Sax night club, Derwen Road, Bridgend if you want to be intimidated by bouncing steroid thugs who show no control
  • Where have the coctails gone in the SHOES! We need to make a stand!
  • I would have to say that Cody's "shiteclub" is by far the most rammed shed of a pub in the whole of Bridgend (but every c**t goes there!) In its defence, the late license is a must for any lager lout and the DJ plays Shaft for me on request. If you could walk from one end to another without a steroid monkey spilling your booze, it would be one of the most entertaining pubs in Bridgend (I think it is anyway) SEE YOU THERE SOON........bitch
  • The Spoons. Ah the only saving grace of that s**thole known as Bridgend.
  • Don't go to the Roof- The Manager treats the staff like SHIT
  • The best one for starting off your night and probably then you wont be able to leave when you can no longer have full usage or feeling in your legs is the newly refurbished THE SHOES always great happy doormen unlike other places I can mention . Once in the staff are always friendly , girls check out Owen hes hot . The music used to be realy good but DJ that was there before who looked realy young but was 23 has gone to australia for a year but he got the place jumping . Now well hmmm , But although the music has gone down hill you can always rely on a great time there for the rugby coverage .
  • viper is coming to bridgend sooon!!!!!!!!!!!!! johny dep will one it
  • Coity Castle, best pub in town!!!
  • The shoes , a great starting pub in the town before heading of to all the others , where its free entry and great music from the young looking DJ ??? Tony ...who is actualy 23 , also the main place when the rugby or main sports are on .
  • How about mentioning Jaggers Tollhouse, its a great, lively spot with a great atmosphere and some wicked DJ's; look for bald headed Sid and also for Martyn
  • loads in town centre
  • Dawsons chair throwing in the welcome was fun. He was always very good and waving to us as we walked to and from Brynteg school. Amazing how he never recognised us as customers in his pub!
  • The catholic Club in maesteg(also known as the M.C.C)is a great place for all you over 60,s out there. It is also known for its remarkamble and good looking staff, mainly including Sean and John!Stay away from Chris, hes the ugly one!
  • CODY'S
  • The Roof and Cody's, but these have both apparently banned me. However, I shall return with great vengeance.
  • There's a boozer for all tastes. Would suggest getting bladdered on good quality ales somewhere like the Coity Castle before venturing to the Roof or Cody's. You won't mind drinking the gnat's piss they serve up at these places then. The Shoes (AKA 'Sports Caffy') is great on international day. Screens everywhere!
  • I think maybe the clock in the Brackla Two Brewers is a little fast. Surely, they shouldn't STILL be open?
  • The Roof, on a Saturday or Sunday, has the heart-warming sight of ROGER PAT collecting glasses. RODGE, or WODGE, is a blast.
  • IN BETTWS THE ODD FELLOWS AND THE CLUB THATS IT REALLY.
  • The Dunraven Arms Hotel in the centre of Bridgend has 2 pubs inside. Cody's saloon (named after Buffalow Bill who apparently stayed in the hotel once) is a large busy pub with a dance floor, very good DJ's and bands frequently; also contains The Weybridge, which is the quieter bar of the two, good to sit around in with friends having a chat. Both Cody's and The Weybridge are open to 2am on Friday and Saturday night ie. no need to go to one of Bridgend's nightclubs! The Roof now opens until 1am Monday to Saturday and has a large beer garden - the DJ, Julian, plays all the cult songs from 60's, 70's and 80's along with the latest such as Catatonia, Sterophonics and the manics - great pub for Sunday nights in the summer.
  • lopads of them good as you like
  • Coach & Horses (Dave Wright), Haywain (fat Owain)and Sqi's fridge.
  • Right where Can I Start?? BELLS: Mans drinking pub, sport, builders, Dai Oakley (need I say more) COACH & HORSES: Cheap beer ( but some times you might have to converse wiht the lower orders) WELCOME: Wankers (THIS IS FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE FIRST PERSON WHO IS READING THIS: You know what I mean!!!, publish something else if you must) O NEILLS: Preferably a pub to go to when at about half past four to five o'.cloock - because usually the scum has gone by then - you can have a CRAIC with normal people!!! That will do for now, will be issuing a list shortly of every pub within a 15 mile radius Pleaser post these messages as I think that you'll agree just like us they're a bit ofa laugh (or is that being presumptious)
  • The courthouse cafe bar, opened just under a year ago is probably one of the classiest places in bridgend....Be warned though, it is full of older customers, not a place for the younger. OPENING SOON WEATHERSPOON, ANOTHER CLASSY PLACE WITHOUT MUSIC, ENTERTAINMENT OR SUCH A WIDE AUDIENCE.........AVOID FOR YOUR OWN SAKE!
  • the vic is a great pub why not come to karaoke on thurs, fri, sat, and some sundays there's great beer and a great menu or visit the great pool room upstairs or relax in the beer garden
  • Has to be the frequently refurbished O'Neill's.
  • The Two Brewers, Brackla
  • Codys is good now it has been made bigger and more people under the age of 40 visit it
  • The Welcome II Town
  • The Roof
  • The Five Bells and the Kings Head should be added to the list of pubs though as I think they serve the best beer in the town. I would add that the Bells in particular is for the slightly older drinker than the two pubs you already mention!!
The Kings Head has been renamed as "O'Neills" and is now an Irish Theme Pub. OK if you like that sort of thing. The beer (especially the Caffrey's and the Guinness) is more expensive than it used to be.
I agree that O'Neils the former Kings Head does serve a pint of ale at the highest standard.
  • The best pub in Bridgend is the Three Horse Shoes. It has recently been fully refurbished costing £130,000 and has been renamed The Shoes.
  • A brief guide to the Garw valley, North of Bridgend:
    • Llangeinor - The Green Meadow - never been in, but it often still looks full when I drive past at midnight.
    • Lluest / Pontyrhyl - The Braich y Cymer, basically someones house. Cheap, crap beer and full of loud, unwashed people. Beer garden (concrete) pleasant enough in summer if it's not full of sreaming brats.
    • Pontycymer (deserves a town guide to itself) - The Ffaldau - only go here if you're an octogenerian or a farmer, or preferably both. The Squirrel - rowdy side, full of valleys car theifs and drug dealers (allegedly), and lounge bit with generally quiet, but friendly regulars, or more often than not, empty. Reasonable beer (probably best bet in the Garw).
    • Blaengarw - never been here, I value my hub caps (actually, my whole car)
    • If you've got transport head for the Llangeinor Arms on top of Mynydd Llangeinor. Nothing special, but in a very nice spot. Turn right at Llangeinor (coming from Bridgend), up the very windy hill. Turn left on the top up a dead end lane. Sort of recommended.
  • In the seventies The Royal Oak was the best pub in Bridgend. It was full every night playing cards and darts and drinking Worthington beer.
  • Come on, the Coach has to be the best pub around. Where else serves Worthies best at a mere 1.20 and it's a damn fine pint too. Mates, good beer and good pool!!
  • The Haywain at Brackla is a great place for the over 30s, but if you're looking up market, try joining the Ogmore Club in Caroline Street.
  • The Three Golden Cups at Ogmore , where you'll find people with people they shouldn't be seen with .
