The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Brighouse.
Pubs
- The Red Rooster pub on Elland Road for that authentic real ale experience and stupefyingly tasty beer. Walk along the canal to get there and stagger back again or swim if you miss the footpath on your way home
- The albion, lane head near the fire station, quiet small pub.
- The Red Rooster Brookfoot Opposite Business Post
- All full of scallies! Youre safer in hudders or Bradford.
- Pubs in brighouse disapearing rapidly i.e. round tavern, stotts and others under the swingeing axe of rapid changes of management. However several pubs in the centre always appear to be doing well i,e black bull, george, clifton arms, robin hood and inexplicably the prince of wales. plenty of other still around i.e. star, black swan, anchor inn, commercial, that one opposite sainsburys.
Outside the Town centre Rastrick probably has the finest collection of hostelries including the legendary Junction inn preside over by the lugubrious Arthur. Other pubs(from top to bottom ) include: the clough house (good, cheap but nice food), the royal oak (bit dodgy), the pub overlooking rastrick cc that is always full of pseudo posh types with company cars and is like a morgue when you walk in, Rastrick CC for a few cheap ones, the sun inn, mellors bar(ex.spitfire) the grove, the bramble (formerly a younger end of the market hangout, not too sure these days) the Top Club (aka rastrick constitutional club, an absolutely superb place, men only, two excellent full size snooker tables , full of character(s) and cheap; the aforementioned junction (bank holiday discos a speciality) Rastrick Bowling club (although usually only for fuctions in the function room unless you are 50+; the globe, the white horse, the commercial and the Star. Not too hot on the pubs out on th eother side of Brighouse but soem i.e. the sun inn, pop inn, martins nest, albion etc are all ok
- Black Swan (keeps getting closed for drug dealing), Black Bull (cop van parked outside waiting for fights to break out), Clifton Arms (sticky carpet), Prince of Wales (mosher-friendly), Wetherspoons (sterile atmosphere), The Bridge (formerlly the Anchor), George, Barge, Robin Hood, Round Tavern (all general pubs)
- the black bull, prince of wales, clifton, the barge, the george, all the good pubs have shut down!
