Local Bands in Bristol, Bristol*

Yet to make it big but definitely worth a listen

You can tell us more about Bristol.

Local Bands
  • Some old mates an new ones.
  • Some old mates an new ones.
  • Some old mates an new ones.
  • mostly snobby south west shit but good bands pass through this lil town. everyone makes dnb/dubstep but not a lot of originality nowadays
  • the south west has a shit selection of metal bands. its all hardcore bollocks, boring as hell they all sound the same, look the same, no vibe. anything progressive/mental/chaotic doesnt really exsist here
  • Top local rock bands - Alien Stash Tin (old school acid metal), Cauda Pavonis (gothic stuff), Bats About Bats, To The Wolves, Clear The Coasts (all hardcore), Onslaught, Bloodstorm, Somnus, Fallen Child (all METAL), Crimson Sky, Jebo, Ian Bartlett (prog Rock), Undercolour, Rock In Your Pocket, 6Fears7, Forgery Lit (mainstream and indie rock), The Pigs, The Mob, Dutty Luck, The Surfin Turnips (punk)... All these and more. Check them out at various venues around the city (Mr Wolfs, Area 81, The Croft, The Reckless Engineer etc) and on the BCFM Sunday Rockshow 93.2fm / www.bcfm.org.uk
  • Dastards (great electro indie - one of the best unsigned acts in Bristol by far www.myspace.com/thedastards), Indigo Lights (again, similar stuff) - pop into any of the aforementioned venues for a taste of Bristol's vibrant unsigned scene.
  • Smokelife super sweet dubstep... check it out!
  • I saw the Rabbit Foot Spasm Band at the Old Duke last week and if you get a chance to see them they're excellent, old world jazz with a really dark edge to the songs. What is the best night to catch at the Old Duke and are there any other first class jazz acts visiting Bristol?
  • the Croft has good bands playing, most are youngish bands starting out...
  • s'e fire, nikill, k#nerz
  • Betamaxx, excellent techno music, play often in The Croft, Louisiana and Casablanca. http://www.myspace.com/betamaxx
  • Tyro Cartel - top new bristol band. Went to see them at The Croft last month (went to see another band), and stayed to see these guys headline. In a nut shell they're lively rock, but with some absolutely instantly kicking licks. They can mix it up though. There was a kinda dub tune at the end which was brilliant, and they even tried some acoustic stuff. Definitely going to check them out again. Fortune Drive - another great Bristol band. Can't believe these guys are still not getting signed by anyone. I haven't seen them for two months, but hope they play in the new year sometime.
