- Reverend Henry Francis Lyte wrote "Abide with me". His residence was what is now the Berry Head Hotel.

- William of Orange landed here. Kicked off the whole N Ireland thing, and there are still a lot of dutch surnames in the locals from his soldiers having a good time.
The fishing trawler was invented here too.
