I REMEMBER KINGSTON WELL. DURING MY YEARS THERE HE WAS A CONSTANT IRRITANT TO ALL THE BOYS. HE ARRIVED THERE WHEN HE WAS 8 YRS OLD. OVER THE NEXT 8 YRS HE ROSE IN STATURE (BOYS WILL BE BOYS).HE BECAME A DOMINEERING BULLY. IF YOU DID ANYTHING HE DIDNT LIKE OR DID NOT DO AS HE TOLD YOU HE MADE LIFE HELL FOR YOU. WHEN HE LEFT HE JOINED THE ROYAL MARINES, I HEARD LATER HE WAS THROWN OUT OF THE MARINES FOR HOMOSEXUALITY.HE WAS ALWAYS A POOF AND I KNOW HE CORRUPTED MANY BOYS THERE. SURPRISINGLY HE GOT THE POST IN CHARGE OF THE HOME, ABSOLUTE PARADISE FOR A POOF. I SINCE LEARNED THAT HE IS DEAD----GOOD----HE MADE MY LIFE HELL AND OTHER BOYS TOO. CERTAIN THINGS THAT HAPPENED THERE BECAUSE OF HIM, HAVE HAD A VERY MARKED EFFECT ON ME THAT I CANNOT FORGET.
I JUST CANT UNDERSTAND HOW THE AUTHORITIES COULD HAVE PUT HIM IN CHARGE OF A BOYS HOME AFTER HE WAS BOOTED OUT OF THE MARINES FOR BEING A QUEER POOF BUMBOY. ... more >>

myself, and brothers Phillip miles and Richard Miles went to the BSBH January 1971, we were told we would spend up to a maximum of 6 weeks in this establishment. But unfortunately, this was not the case, my mum had become freinds with fred farlow and his wife, who were wonderful people this is how she had become aware of the BSBH. When we entered the BSBH early January 1971 the people in care of us were Mr fred Farlow and his wife and Mr and Mrs Ford who were wonderful people. Unfortunately, after our 6 weeks had passed there were no signs of us going anywhere and at some point after this Mike Kingston and his wife took over.i had been across the road for a couple of canings from cpt parry, but nothing had prepared me, my brothers and probably the rest of us inmate's for the hell we were about to endure. As the months went by i decided enough was enough,i could not believe how awfull life had become. Myself and Mr Rob Hargreaves a.k.a sly-one decided to abscond. If anyone would be interested in hearing the end of my tale and possibly more of what went on inbetween please respond in some way. i just happened to be listening to radio 2 this morning ( 21st of May 2011 ) to hear there was some kind of reunion for the BSBH in Sailsbury but have been unable to establish where or when. ... more >>

Hiya Steve, another "victim" of the regime just checking in.
Mike Hurley. Circa 73-76.
So kingston is dead? shame, I wanted a word in his ear before my days were over! along with that pervert Colin weatheral, Kingstons wife, Anne was in it up too her ears too... all complicit in the bullying and Paedo ring.
I cant believe how little is on the web about the stuff that was going on there.... or am I just looking in the wrong place?... or is it being withdrawn/censored so as not to predudice some kind of legal stuff thats in the offing?
quite a few of the lads mentioned I can remember.
Thank god Roy Trigger and his Mrs turned up when they did and started asking questions!!!!
I was in Germany during my last year avoiding the advances of their paedo friends they had sent me to stay with... all arranged by some pervert chaplain in the Navy as a reward for being "BEST BOY" that year.Luckily the german cops got involved and saved me!!! I was 13 or 14 at the time.
Thank you for your patronage "PM of K", you were doing a fine job there indeed.
NO FUKING WONDER ALL THE RECORDS HAVE GONE MISSING!!!!!
I have loads of thought on the proceedings down there if anyone is interested.....I know I wasnt the only one!! ... more >>

My names Alex, No 2 was on me shirt, No 1 was Peter Waterloo's from London. I remember you Steve Shepherd, we didn't get on - at all!! Kids will be kids. I was from Liverpool, everyone else was from the South (or it felt like it) so I didn't fit in too well. Gutted Kingstons dead, I wanted to do it! I heard Colin the air trolly dolly married Kingston's daughter (whome I still love!!!!). Yep the home was hell, I hated it. Peter Excell was the perv, hasseling me and a few boys, Kingston was just a shithouse bully. Survivors get in touch alexlarsen@hotmail.co.uk Got a shit load of memories and stories. Kingston told all the boys I was in 'Coverntry' for something - he stuck me in the top room next to the older boys dorm (was it Raleigh?) Somebody spoke to me and someone said don't, he's in Coventry. An older boy said piss off, talk to him. I will never forget that and I think the geezer standing up to the fascist bollocks was called martin. Thanks - I never forgot it. ... more >>

Hi all this is yet another victim from the colditz castle in Brixham,
I was there in the mid to late 70’s,
I remember you Andy and was very sad when I saw in the paper the news about Paul,
Other boys that I can recall were Russell Middleton, and Tom Macey.
I have tried to block out the time that I was there as the bad times outweighed the good,
But the one good time that I think I will always remember was the Trawler Race drinking lager on the “Lady Cinderella”
I went back in the summer of 2007 to try and see if I could clear some of the ghosts from my head but all I could do was stand in the car park even after being asked in to have a look around I may try again one day,

All you need to do is fill in all the form, click the 'Preview Before Publishing' button at the end of the form, to check it looks ok, and then click 'Edit Again' or the 'Publish!' button. Hi I have had an E/M from Neil I was in the home in 1945 I have looked at the photo's on line. None of myself. I have done the coak run and sat in the laundry peeling spuds. I can't remember the Capt that was at the home when I first went in. But Capt STAGG was there when I left. I have been back a lot since I left I was told that one of the boys that was there the same time I was became in charge of the home (M KINGSTON)did you know him? Last I heard of him he was in Torquay. I have some photo's & will turn them out. I played in the band and also played football for the home and furzham school I now live in Blackpool hope to head from you ... more >>

Does anyone know what happened to the history of the boys at the home. Seems that records of who was there dissapeared and wiped of the face of the earth.

My information was that the assistant and/or his wife 'lost' the information. There was a lot of CSA going on between 1967 and 1972 which was about to be investigated. A lot of it was hushed up to protect... the guilty.

Hi Steve, just found this site and read your comments, I still go down to Brixham 5-6 times a year. I was down this weekend, hence had a look to see if any info was on the net about the home.
Sorry that Kingston left you with bad memory's, but both him and the Chicken's have past over too the other side. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Yes 27,that was my number, do you have any contact with any of the other lads.
I know Deano & Russell are still local to Brixham and Neil lives acoss the water from me in Portsmouth.
If you can remember my brother's that were in the home,Paul died in 78, Ian is in Australia, and Sean lives down the road from me.
Well keep well
