• The Sholder pub in the town centre now has a new daft name, an oh so new 'hogshead' style interior but actualy a realy nice new tiered garden in to the rock face of the church behind. Oh, and they have 'local' bands to play, and its a bit dear.
• Black Cross is always good for a punch up! and the occasional raid by police. Golden Cross has become a little more respectable in recent years not so many fights the bar staff are also not as friendly as years passed. There used to be a pub which is greatly missed by me and used to be a great place to spend your Friday night The Hustler!! what a dive but a great, great place to go for a laugh and a dance also it used to sell some great cocktails Cock up was my favourite the staff were also very delightfull. Bring back the Hustler!!!!
• The Golden Cross is basically a Kindergarten with a bar.

• The Black - traditional fave with the babyfaced masses, now clamping down. The Golden, quite nice, too many jocks. Hog's Head - Like the Black without the charm.

• Black Cross for atmosphere, Hogshead if you want to attempt sophistication. Avoid the Golden Cross which is merely a kindergarten with a bar.
