- The Octagon (where they used to sell Auntie Vi's Submarine Sandwiches) has been demolished and is now flats. More people and more cars running on the same infrastructure. The Bude Wharf is being improved and will have shore power and water available soon. Whether or not yachties will wish to pay the high fees for using the sea lock is debateable.
- Hardware Shops:
Bude has one of the best in the world. Nails are counted out and put in paper bags. Every item bought is written down in a ledger and the cost is totted up in the head - no till! It takes ages but I love the seriousness of the procedure. It's worth a visit just to soak up the atmosphere or, if you're a local, pass the time of day. Magic! Can you find it?
- My mum and dads caravan park in Bridgerule, just 5 miles from Bude. Its the coolest place to stay, static caravans and touring caravans, an on site bar and restaurant with brilliant food, a brand new toilet and shower block, massive by most park standards, and great staff!
