The Worst Things in Burnham on Sea, Somerset*

The entirely missable and worth mentioning because of it

You can tell us more about Burnham on Sea.

The Worst Things
  • SEAGULLS EVERYWHERE AND BIG ONES TOO AND THEY SH*T EVERYWHERE
  • The local drunks at 2am that have vandalised two of my cars in two short weeks. Have lived in London/Essex and owned cars for 22 years and these are the first acts of terrorism that I've ever experienced :o( I can only think that they haven't got the courage to get into a fight so choose instead to beat up inanimate objects...really tough of them don't you think?? Everyone has a walking stick...if I see someone without one I wonder what's wrong with them!! Strangely (and not associated in any way) I picked my parents after their Caribbean Cruise docked in Southampton. My mother (who is in a wheelchair) commented that she didn't see anyone use a stick whilst on board but when it came time to disembark no one was without one...weird that huh? :o) Holidaymakers from Birmingham...they really need to learn to smile or else stay at home and be miserable!! Oh, and they need to learn to control their herds of children too. Old people...why do they need to go shopping at the weekends...they've got all week to do their shopping when it's quiet, why not leave the streets clear for those who have to work all week? People with big dogs that let them crap everywhere and don't clean it up...people with small dogs always seem to..there are plenty of bins and dog poo recepticals. When I challenged someone about it their response was "well children shouldn't play with it then" (????). I then pointed out that the could fall in it and potentially loose their sight and they said "Oh, I hadn't thought of that" (!!!!)
  • Windburn - and your hair gets stuck in your lipgloss. Poor neglected Highbridge.
  • Chewing gum all over the pavements. Inconsiderate holidaymakers. The litter. Porcupine Alley (The High Street with it's 1001 signs)
  • The Beach - what a disappointment! Nice if you like mud flats!
  • TO MUCH TO SAY
  • The fact that the M5 goes practically through it making it really easy for the welsh and the Brummies to get there
  • Cold fresh air in Winter. Cold fresh air in Summer. Unadventurous local councillors.
  • Managing to get out. There is a magnetic pull which attaches itself to you if you grew up there. To return on completion of your degree is fatal, you will never leave.
  • the local councilors who object to anything for us youngsters to see and do, although i am only 38 i am still not going to retire just yet, and still wish to see some more facillities that are not just for the wrinklies.
  • Getting stuck behind one of the old folk as they try to parallel park in the town centre. Last summer I missed the whole of August waiting behind a grey haired resident with an ageing austin allegro.
  • We went for a day trip to see what Minehaed was like and left after the second pub to check out B o S. It would have been more interesting to go to a Siberian work camp - the food would have been better and probably not as much nuclear radiation: that must explain a lot.
  • Loads of charity shops.
  • I left Burnham when i was only 10 yrs old, i have very fond memories,of Burnham..wish i could have brought my kids up there.
