| Memories Of BurnHam ...VERY Old memories
|
by Diana Barnes (Member 10133650) on 25-Jul-2010
|
I remember I remember the Town where I was born.......
I rmember Feeding Fish in the Marine gardens. Breking up crusts of bread held in a blue paper sugar bag.
I remember going to St Andrew's Church with Grandad ( Walter Stacey) he had a greengrocer's shop on High Street and he was the Church warden. I rmember him ringing the bells and telling me if I misbehaved during the Sunday service (Which always seemed sooooo long) The marble angels at the back would flap their wings and so tell Grandad I was not paying attention!
I remember the Mud and the Sunshine center people singing songs on the beach and handing out paper texts with very nice pictures on ( I had precious few toys and little enetrtainment in those days so this free gift was greatly prized)
Dad ( Ken Stacey) had a Market garden. Sandhills fruit farm at Berrow. More treats.. a Bottle fizzy Tizer from the shop. Getting fresh bread from Thorn's bakery on the sandhills.. watching it come out of the big black oven on the end of a long flat Paddle. I loved watching the Black smith shoeing the great horses in the smithy near to the Hotel.
Fortes ... my introduction to what is now called cafe latte... Choclolate cake to die for from Davies Bakery . I have never had cakes like those since or those small sponge cakes with a red piece of marzipan on top and a coriander seed... Ah that tase! Of course in retrospect these were all made with ingredients to beat the severe rationing after the war.So now long lost recipes using dried eggs and I presume fats that would now be banned.
Winter 1947 and frozen sea. The wonderful Operatic societies Gilbert and Sullivan productions at the Ritz. The St Andre's Church fete, The Burnham Flower show... The Huge Mulberry tree in Manor Gardens
I could go on... I had such a lovely exciting childhood there. Simple pleasures in a safe world.
I have returned frequently.. some cosmetic changes but really time seems to have stood still.

| My Berry Tree
|
by LeCoach (Member 10169670) on 11-Sep-2007

The Berry Tree Overview:
You can make $1336 per month without sponsoring anyone or having to sell anything.
You can earn on everyone in the company. Even on people that joined before you!
This patent pending plan is totally unique, no one has anything like this.
The more we grow, the more you can make.
How it works:
There are 2 main ways to make money with The Berry Tree:
1. The advertising included in your membership grows your business for you
This advertising is used to bring in new members that are distributed evenly throughout The Berry Tree. Signups are placed under existing members based on their enrollment date, so people that join after you help you profit faster.
Once your 1st position exceeds $312.00 in profits, you are automatically given another position to increase your earning potential. Because your membership includes advertising to grow your business, your success does not depend on you selling on your own.
2. Refer others or advertise more to grow your business
If you want to make even more money, faster, we can show you how to easily sponsor others. You’ll get into profit faster and you can even earn on EVERYONE in the company. Even those who joined before you!
Your membership includes:
Corporate managed advertising to bring in new members and customers. We buy in bulk and work with some of the top ad agencies in the world to get more of every dollar we spend.
5 websites - 2 personal recruiting websites, 1 product site and 2 support and training sites.
O2 Berry Product and Exclusive Worldwide Marketing Rights. Nutronix International has launched a new product into the market through their new division called The Berry Tree.
You will get the O2 Berry product each month to use and / or share with other potential customers.
Remember, everyone who joins after you helps you get into profit faster.
Join before they do!

| Just moved here...
|
by Peter Parker (Member 10206087) on 4-Apr-2007
|
I've recently moved here and have been at university so had no chance to really explore Burnham. I was just wondering if there were any specialist comic shops that sell the major weekly Marvel publications, I am willing to travel to the likes of Taunton, Bristol, Bridgwater, Weston etc to get my comics. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

My sincere condolences. If you are going to be living in Burnham on Mud, you are sure as hell going to need something to read. There isn't a helluva lot else to do............

More ‘Votes’ Than Evening Post – Bristol Indymedia – Publish Your News!
SOUTH WEST WELCOME!
PUBLISH YOUR NEWS
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE ARTICLES - A Brief Guide
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org/newswire.php?story_id=25376
Bristol Indymedia now routinely gets more 'Votes' than the Evening Post ‘This Is Bristol’ website, according to the Google PageRank method! If you do a 'Bristol' on UK Google, Bristol Indymedia comes out at around 7th - 8th place, and jostles for position with the 'This Is Bristol' website. Join in with the movement to democratise Bristol’s corporate dominated media landscape; Publish Your News Now! It's only a click away! Click the 'Submit An Article' button and your story will appear on the right-hand newswire within minutes of posting.
BRISTOL INDYMEDIA - Read It, Write It, Your Site, Your News...
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org
PUBLISH YOUR NEWS
(South West Welcome)
http://www.bristol.indymedia.org/publish.php
Even though our newswire carries the banner 'Read It, Write It, Your Site, Your News...' it seems that not everyone is yet aware that this means exactly what it says. The 'Submit An Article' button, in the top-right corner, takes you to our article submission form. All you need to do is fill in all the form, click the 'Preview Before Publishing' button at the end of the form, to check it looks ok, and then click 'Edit Again' or the 'Publish!' button. If you have any problems filling out the form, or with uploading articles, please see our brief guide above.
PUBLISH YOUR EVENT
(South West Welcome)
http://bristol.indymedia.org/whatson/calendar.php
If you have an event to promote you can use our calendar too. Again, just like with the newswire, all you need to do is click 'Add Your Event' and follow the instructions, and your event will be immediately displayed in the calendar. If your event has an interesting report attached to it, then you can turn that into an article too, on the main newswire, to go with your calendar entry.
GUIDELINES
Only if your article is outside of, or breaks, guidelines will it be moved from the right-hand newswire.

Most of us are fed up with these bullying yobs who appear to be such cowards nowadays, they can only fight in gangs. If we all lobby an MP in Parliament with an e-mail maybe one day someone will be brave enough to bring in laws that stand up to these thugs. here you'll find a list of MP's email addresses. http://www.parliament.uk/index.cfm

| Looking for Jenny Roberts
|
by Chris (Member 10112415) on 21-May-2006
|
Does anyone know the whereabouts of Jenniy Roberts. Her father used to be a police officer in Burnham on Sea in the 60's.
Jenny attended King alfred's School around 1964.
I think she married someone called Gadd, but I am not sure. I briefly caught sight of her on the 1970's when I was delivering milk in Berrow.

I would guess that she lived in the "police house". Forgotten the address but I bet I could find it if I visited BOS.
Wonder if anyone knows what happened to Annette Lange, who was a daughter of a policeman in BOS back in the forties???
