You can tell us more about Burnham.

Pubs
  • The Maypole. To be avoided. The epicentre of the local chav culture - full of tattooed binge drinking arseholes, pikeys and yobs.

  • Just been to the Garibaldi, first time for years, it was great. Lovely old building, low ceilings and wooden beams, separate bar areas. New Landlords who were really friendly, best Guiness and bitter in the whole of Burnham. Lovely huge garden, children friendly, big car park -- great atmosophere and very clean -- brill night out!!!!!!! When they start to do food again, this will be the best pub for miles around.
  • The George - for the discerning drinker only. No cads or ruffians please.
  • I have read the posting about the local pubs, and can't believe what I see! The George is a fine pub (more like an older mans gentlemans club), if you like bitter mixed with the smell of dog and cat piss, this is the LAST pub you would want to go on a night out to, except if you like big beefy ugly women, and standing at the bar doing the Telegraph crossword. The Garibaldi is OK if the landlord decides you are 'one of them' (a bit clicky). The Red Lion is a bit messy, but a good locals pub. The Swan used to be the trouble pub in the high street. This has changed now completely, it's got the best mix of all the pubs in the village, the landlord and landlady + the staff have made this about the best pub round here, VERY FRIENDLY and good atmosphere.
  • Ye Olde Swan in the High street is now probably the best pub in the area. There is a wide mixture of drinkers from 18 to 80, everybody seems to get on with everybody and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. The pub is always packed at the weekend and the beer they serve is top class, staff and management are polite, friendly and seem to give that little extra to make every night an enjoyable one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  • The "Old Five Bells" is a nice family pub during the day. There aren't many children in there during the evening now that the playground has been removed from the garden and the space put to much better use - drinking. At weekends gets busy but a good crowd. The Red Lion's clientel needs to be improved to make it a worthy drinking hole dispite the freindly staff. The George provides the best conversation and the worst surroundings. The Swan is now becoming a great place to drink, this is due to the new Management who are doing a great job of keeping out the scum.
  • The Feathers (opposite Cliveden) serves really good food. The Swan down the High Street is really grotty - I ordered garlic mushrooms and lasagne with garlic bread. Back came cold, undercooked and soggy mushrooms and when I turned the garlic bread over (after taking a bite!) I realised it had mould on it!!!!Yuk
  • As for the George it's like the inside of a dead lung!!!!!! Ladies, don't wear white trousers!!!!
  • What goes around, comes around..... The George has always been a hallowed spot. I even got asked my age on my 19th birthday, but the beer has always been good. Saturday night entertainment has improved from the days when it was just the lady with the Pork Scratchings and potted seafood. Shame that the 'Old cinque Ding-dongs' has gone downhill
  • The Garibaldi is OK. Avoid the Swan - it's full of suburban Chelsea skinheads. The 5 Bells is OK but always packed with kids.
  • The George is the only pub worthy of mention. All the others are full of yobs, thugs, slags, neglected children and football supporters.
  • 'The Five Bells' in Church St. is well known in the area, it is an attractive building which is commonly seen in postcards.
