But I am looking on her father's(John Baxter) side for Baxters and Dixons. His mother's name was Maria Dixon. His father's name was Henry Baxter. Here are the basics. If anyone out there has this in their family tree, please contact me. I will be making a th ird visit to England very soon.' Henry Baxter married Maria Dixon in the december quarter of 1862. Their son, John was born at St Ives in the June quarter of 1864 Harry was born in the March quarter of 1867, also St Ives Ernest Arthur was born in St Ives again during the September quarter of 1870 And Leonard was born in the same place in the September quarter of 1874 I believe that Maria Dixon was born in 1840 in Oundle (by sheer coincidence, I am researching a friend's family tree and all her ancestors were born in Oundle. They were shoemakers and publicans, so Maria's family may have bought their shoes and drunk in their pubs!) I cannot find a registration for Henry. However, I have found a census record of him in exactly the place he named as where he was born! As Henry is not an especially common name in in the early 1800s, I believe it is John's dad. It also looks as if Henry's father's name was John, which also adds credence to this being the right family. According to the census, the family lived on a farm in Hemingford Abbots and there were 6 children. 10 year old Emma has had surgery for Scoliosis and is now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and for all children in the UK to have the very simple 'bend forward' test to get an early diagnosis of Scoliosis.
