Trying to find my brother who was born at St Pelagia's Home for Penitent Girls on 31st May 1965. Birth mother is Laura Crowe. If anyone has any information or lead as to how I can find out adoption details I would be most greatful!

    I found out that all records of births at St Pelagia's (34 Highgate West Hill) are held at the Catholic Children's Society (previously called Crusade of Rescue).

    any women going to Highgate west hill, were given another name to go by when they entered the convent, so it may be hard for people to remember them

    Hi, Just a word of caution. The Catholic Childrens Society had no details about me. I was adopted through what was then Essex County Council who hold records about me. I also knew my birth name and requested my original birth certificatefrom recorda. Good luck.

    Please tell me how u knew that the women going into highgate convent were given different names, and is there a way of tracing their real names ? I have been searching for the past ten years and am desparate for any information that can be of any help

    the only info i can give you is it was set in huge big old house i spent 3 months in it and hated it and the nuns in it were hard on us girls and most of us in there were all young girls that made a mistake but the girls there were all hurting and were lovely girls i would love to know what happend to all of them good luck in your search hope that helped a little
