• Look - I think you're getting Canvey mixed up with Monaco or something... Cheap food on Canvey = food on Canvey. Island Fish Bar, Wimpy (Does anyone know if there is a Wimpy Burger Bar left anywhere else in the UK?) or either of the very greasy spoons. There is a Kebab house which is Ok if you're very drunk...

• There are plenty of fast-food places, like Chinese take-aways, McDonalds and, now, KFC (though Favourite Chicken along the high-street is better, go there! Don't give into the KFC!). Then there are the indian places. But the best place is the labworth. Goog food, good views and a great building (a 1920's white circular building). BOOK EARLY!

• For ambiance, wonderful views of the estuary and above all excellent food, visit the Labworth Restaurant. This restaurant has the most extensive menu outside London and yet charges its food and regional prices. To avoid disappointment you'll be advised to book early because this place is extremely popular for obvious reasons. Don't come to Canvey and miss out on a gastronomic delight. Open from Tuesday to Saturday, evenings only, 2 sittings: 6pm until 8pm (qualifies for 25% discount) and from 8pm until you are ready to go home).

• Lots of chippies! One near jones corner, One near smallgains, one in the town, a favourite chicken shop in the town, chinese and indian take aways aswell.
• The Labworth cafe serves mammoth hlpings and the lobster smack use to be good once upon a time!
• We went in the Labworth not so long a go, after it had been taken over and done up by the lottery winnner. It was expensive but the food was lovely.
• Not content with the gastronomic delights of the Wimpy in town, Canvey finally have a McDonalds, located next to Safeways on Northwick Retail Park. A few nice chip shops, lots of Indians and Chineses too.
• A late night kebab house on the corner of Knightswick Road and Long Road - can't remember the name of it now, but it's just opposite the Haystacks so not too bad for a late night snack.
• Kebab up the town is what I recommend and it's open till 3am (so stumble down there where you come out the pub!!!)
• there's a few new food shops e.g. Macdonalds, Wimpy, kebab burger hut, several indians and Chinese resturants
• Numerous Kebab shops. Couple of nice Indian restaraunts. Half a dozen Chinese T/A's Couple of Pizza T/A's. Wimpy, always pricey. And now McDonalds, About time.
