- yummys the best
- ...? Cheap food... LIDL
- Chips and (lumpy but tasty) gravy at Robertsons Cafe..... Mmmmmmm....Is it still open? Is it still full of 13 year olds with wailing kids?
- the bins outside the lanes! as recommended by pomsy and the late chris the tramp
- Francos is cheap and cheerful. Great location. Great service.
- Michelangelos was a BIG disappointment! The veal of the Saltibocca was so tough and gristly we had to return it uneaten. Didn't get charged. Staff are English rather than Italian, and they serve Limoncello at room temperature in tumblers!
- I couldn't disagree more with the comments about Michelangelo's Restaurant. Went there this week on strenth of the recommendation. Ordered the Saltimbocca, but had to return most of it as the veal was very toufh and gristly. They didn't charge us for the main course, but the evening was spoiled. Most good Italian restaurants have Italian waiting staff, and there is no doubt they have a certain flair. At Michelangelo's, all the staff we saw were locals, and it's never the same. Is the chef Italian? I don't know, but doubt it. One of the desserts ordered was off the menu, and they served Limoncello - the Itaian liqueur - at room temperature in small tumblers! Of course, it should be served very chilled in shot or liqueur glasses. Altogether, a VERY disappointing experience. For a really good Italian restaurant, try La Locanda just outside Wetherby or Jo Rigatoni in Harrogate. Both vastly superior to Michelangelos.
- HARRABY #1
- shanghai shanghai!!!!!!! think thats how too spell it
- top stop and pizza base ummmm after a night out in xs

- maccy Ds and KFC
- My favourite is Pizza Base on the Cresent. Cheap but wonderful! Quick delivery too. Indian will have to be Indian Spice on Botchergate, at least they'll answer one of their phone lines to take an order unlike the other Indian further down who pride themselves on service... ha! What about the 7 times I tried to order that night? Golden Dragon on Warwick Road (now called Yummys) keeps forgetting the extra portion of chips. Of course theres the Warwick on Warwick road.
- Michelangelos.
Italian authenticity at it's best.
You'll never taste cannelloni like it, not even in italy!
- KFC always hits the spot, warwick (next please mate !) is good after a night out
- Cafe Aubergine has just opened in Lowther Arcade. And it's rather nice as well. www.cafeaubergine.com
- kfc not worth the wait!!!!
- Top Stop the faithfull spot after a good night on the juice. The warick was a belta in the good old days. Emperors Palace is thenicest chinky and ya might get a few surprise ingredients as the chef gets rid of his stash.
- why did pizza hut leave?
- Morrison's Salad Bar.
- McDonalds in the city centre even though its tiny, overcrowded and cramped. The Warwick takeaway is good after a night out. The Kebabs are lovely but you are likely to get into fights with the local inbred scum who inhabitat it.
- alexandros taverna, on the corner of warwick road opposite global video. fuckin excelent greek food, if a little expensive its worth it.
- GIANNI'S IS THE BEST PIZZA RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD
Chungs in Botcherby
Princes garden in denton holme
GIANNI'S IS THE BEST PIZZA RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD
- If you really want the best Italian food in the north of England, you must go to Ristorante Michelangelo. Its on everyone's lips.Forget cheap and nasty Gianni's or the very dire, appaling Casa Romana."Michelangelo's".is superb.Truly authentic, massive portions, brilliant staff. The best by far.
- food poisoning
- Emporers palace, lovely chinese food to eat in and out,
- no lonsdale leisure outlets the chefs are shit and ged crookes does not know what he is doin the raisin headed arse
- The crown in stanwix is cheap and tasty. Good for students
- You know I always thought the food at the Crown was pretty good. But my favourite takeaway was the salad bar at Morrison's supermarket. The rest of the supermarket was pretty bad though. But go for the salad bar; it's cheaper than Sainsbury's but that goes for most Northern things - especially chicks with dicks!

- macdonalds, (i had sex in the changin rooms once)
- Michelangelo's - disgusting, cheap ingredients, poorly executed.
- burger king, if you want to go upmarket pizza express
- Hopewell house at Currock and Alan chungs at Botcherby best chinkies in Carlisle.
Dhakar in Denton holme good curry house.
Michealangelo's best and cheapest Italian.
- TOO MANY!!to mention here.
- TOO MANY!!to mention here.
- Casa Romana on Warwick Road. Soprano's, fairly new, beautiful food though, where Made in Italy used to be.
The Warwick takeaway for a pizza after a night out. The place to be!
- Pickles-yum!
- Fontana's Fish and chip shop is the best take-away in town, with some of the best service available and the best cod and chips known to man!!!Definately ten out of ten in my view.
- Pizza Express, GOLDEN STAR!!, topstop(great for an end-of-evening kebab)
- CHUNGS IS BEST BOTCHERBY
- The Indian on Botchergate
- Gianni's itallian, absolutely gorgeous, also Franco's, (used to be Mammas), but watch out for the desparately sad waiter with the fake cappucino that he pretends to spill over you, it wasn't funny the first time...................
- Eden valley chinese takeaway and chippy is the dogs dangly bits
- Wongs on Denton Street - chip shop, Chinese and pizzas too!
- top stop , kebabs etc. good wepons in a fight
- Perkins chip shop (or whatever they call it now!)
- Ristorante Michelangelo is the best Italian Restaurant I have ever eaten in although it is very difficult to find. Head for the Station car-park, past the taxi-rank, & it is on your right opposite the railway arches. I thought I'd died & gone to Heaven when I tasted the Saltimbocca Alla Romana (Veal topped with Parma Ham in a Cream & Sage Sauce - definitely not low-cholestrol!!)
- Stanwix Tandoori for both eat-in an take-away. Casa Romana,Warwick Road (great before a movie next door). Le Gall.
- Pie and pea shop on Botchergate has been demolished.Along with the rest of that side if the street!
- Alan Chungs, Botcherby. What a marvelous Chinese Takeaway
- Leonardo's is a nice new restarant in Lonsdale Street just next door to Buskers (same managment). Very nicely done out, but with bouncers on the door this may be a little intimidating! Not the cheapest place in the city and not the best food, but it is good and the surroundings are very nice.
Top Stop Pizza Shop on the crescent - just what you need after a good ngiht out after a ngiht of clubbing. Decent prices and good food.
Can't beat Macdonalds if your on the pull! Sit by the window so you can eye up all the passing talent and also all the talent that walks in!
- Cecil's Treat on Cecil Street. Limited opening hours but cosy spot with good
cuisine and caters well for vegetarians.
- Quick food (take out and sit in) at The French Deli Very nice (near. Town Hall)
- The Arches (quick) - very nice as well (down lane near covered market).
- Meal out- Carlisle has one of the highest numbers of restaurants (particularly nice Italian ones). Here's a sample: Gianni's Pizzaria- Very good atmosphere - singing abundant, nice food and reasonable prices. Intensely Italian.
- Casa Romana- More expensive but still a good atmosphere and good food. Quite intensly Italian.
- Michaelangelos- Very nice indeed, excellent table service, very kind waiters and waitresses (and manager), food is outstanding (especially he foccacia - garlic bread/pizza without topping). Excellent house red wines. Quite expensive but it is worth it !! Romantics and couples are a commonality here. Very laid back Italian - food doesn't taste how a western europeans expects an Italian to taste like...it tastes like food they would serve in a good restaurant in Italy.
- Mamma's- Also good. Good food and drink. Excellent service - be careful... the waiters are practical jokers! Not expensive. Nice very italian atmosphere.
- Zapotec- Carlisle's answer to Mexico... and a good job it makes of it too. Expensive and the food is very hot, but very nice. Ordering in Spanish is optional.
- The Grape Vine- Good place to have lunch out, go see what I mean.
- The Jade Garden on Botchergate- If you want a sit dow Chinese meal, this is the place to come to. The food is forthcoming with great speed and quantity. If there are five or six of you, you still probably won't be able to finish the divine meal for four. (Even our Rugby team couldn't finish up- but you can take a doggy bag if you ask nicely). Peking Duck and Chicken with Cashew nuts are a must. Try the Chinese lager... some think it is quite nice, I do!
- The Dhaka Tandoori. About a mile and a half up London Rd. This Bangladeshi run curry house is one of the best in the local area. It has won various awards for best restaurant etc.
