- There are a few decent coffee shops in Carlisle and Mr Pickwicks cafe in The Lanes is always lively.
- Everywhere has one. Nice views of Castle from Debenhams, nice view of City Centre from Binns (sorry, House of Fraser). Would be a nice view from M&S if windows weren't so high!

- Cafe Solo is the best in Carlisle, definitely. Buy 1 get 1 free hot drinks with a student card, and their hot chocolate is lush! (marshmallows, cream and a flake!)

- The Loaf and Ladle hidden behind Devonshire Street does really nice soups, bread and home made puds.

- The Arches, great for lunch and a cuppa tea!
- The cafe in House of Fraser is nice. I you sit by the window you have a lovely view of the city centre and you start to notice things that you never usually notice before.
