Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy
You can tell us more about Carmarthen.
Cheap Food
- pantri blakeman, blue street carmarthen. by the bus shelter!! fresh food made to order. good service, friendly staff.
- none!! everythings proper expensive!!
- Queens pub does a nice lunch.
- mcdonalds! the wimpy is way too expensicve..the foods crap..and the service is poor.they are all rude
- USA Chicken is a great place to stop on the way home after a night.
- The American one next to the bus stop, but beware the Chavs/Townies/Emo's that hang round there.
- quayside...no no expensive here...but good food
- Morgan's Chippy, Crisp and Fry. Best Kebab (down the alleyway by Andrew Price) - the name says it all! Very nice staff.
- Morgan's chip shop is the best! The fishckes rule!
- Morgans chip shop do the best chips in Carmarthen. the spice hut is good - its open late&they give you free popadoms.
- Wetherspoons is really nice, they serve great food and have a wide selection of drinks to choose from.
- Plenty of take aways around, take your pick!
- Crisp And Fry (next to the coffee bar on Notts Square) is alright, but for quality food go to Morgan's Chippy on..oh god..Water street? I can't remember the name of the street sorry!
- Wimpy, The coracle on Llamas Street and Morgan's- (good old-fashioned chippies-bit greasy but ok!)There are loads more but I really can't be bothered trying to rmember them all! Some in the market but they look a bit dodgy...
- Branney's Bodega. its by Lidls. I know its not a very prestigeous location but the food is delicious if expensive. The best is the Soup and Sizzeler. It consists of a soup starter and a sizzling hotmain meal with meat (chicken, beef, pork) veggys and a bowl of chips.
- Top Taste -John St (burgers and pizzas)
Spice Hut- Priory St (Indian)
Kwong Yik- Water St (Chinese)
Mc Donalds
- Tanerdy Lodge - a little too far from town to be in the least bit trendy, but as warm a welsh welcome as you can get. On the road to Llandeilo, about 3/4 mile from the centre, just after the Shell garage. Worth supporting even just because they took down all the photos of the Prince of Wales from what used to be the Guardsman pub. 'Nuff said.
- I wouldn't eat in the MERLIN cafeteria at the College. I had to a few times... I'm not sure if I can tell you why without saying something scandalous but I'd sooner lick the snot from the face of a frozen corpse than eat there again.
There used to be a guy called Mike who owned a fast food place up by Nott's square called the Grill & Spice if I remember right. The food there's clean and quite good. There's several bakeries in the town and also a chip shop with staff that look at you as if you just fell from their dog's bum.
- Plenty of places for chips and such like! Best chips in town - Llangrannog chippie, then there's Y Gegin, also West End cafe.
- Hamiltons Restaurant in Queen Street is the best restaurant in town. Visit our site
or you can phone them on (01267) 235631.
- Waverley for veggie delights.
- The best restaurant in town is Hamitons Restaurant. They have a big variety of dishes on the menu, and offer lunch and evening specials. It's in Queen Street.
For bar meals or snacks, go to the Queens pub in Queen Street. Very tasty, very reasonable.
For fast food you can't beat Mc Donalds which opened recently.
- Littlewoods cafe!!!!
- The Old Curiosity cafe in King Street serves the best coffee in town, and the best scones in the world - and I speak as a connoisseur of scones. Friendly, fast service, too, and a bit of atmosphere - what more can you ask?
- Tescos above the bus depot.
- Local chippies.
- Mcdonald's, Wimpy, Chick King, Crisp and fry all are good fast food places.
