• a few, all crap except the white hart, either overpriced or drug dealer and trouble makers in them, esp...the poachers, if your looking for trouble, go there.
• There are 7 in Chalfont St Giles alone! Some have an interesting history behind them, with suicide by hanging as a stand-out. Merlin's Cave isn't bad, but it attracts a rough crowd. The best is the Fox and Hounds - it has a pool table in a seperate segment that is rarely occupied, and plays CDs if you give them some.
• Pouchers,the one opposite that and The Greyhound.
• Sugar loaves is great if you want to be molested
• The White Hart is near on 500 yrs old and the nicest and best place in the village for a bit of real pub character with cheaper prices than the Greyhound which takes £3 for a pint guinness!!!, (has nice bogs though). That the only good thing. Poachers is cheap, full of hoolies and has a bad rep for drugs. FFS, a police van used to park outside it all evening!n Still nice place and nicer staff, best in the day.
• If you have a pipe, whippet and chip on your shoulder, then the White Hart in CSP is for you. Very smoky, full of greasy old codgers and has horse brasses on the wall. Might appeal to some saddos. If, on the other hand, you wear white towelling socks, drive a Capri, and never quite understood why the mullet went out of fashion, then the Poachers is for you and your eighties-throwback knuckledragging mates. The Greyhound is fine - if you've taken out a small mortgage for the price of a beer - with a small garden between the "river" and the bypass.
• all the pubs are shit- go to the packhorse on xmas eve though! they have a lock in!
