Cheap Food in Chatham, Kent*

Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

You can tell us more about Chatham.

Cheap Food
  • BROMPTON CHIPPY IS THE BESTSEST PLACE FOR A QUIK BITE OR A FULL ON HOT MEAL....!!! HAVE USED IT FOR YEARS AND CANNOT FAULT IT .... SO I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PREVIOUS PLEB'S PROBLEM WAS? LIKE THE SERVICE AND ALWAYS HAVE APOLITE NATTER IF I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE FRESH FOOD TO BE SERVED...
  • Look out for a guy with a yellow sign down the high street. It'll will point you in the right direction to some burger place down an alley way. Caution: this will be the last meal you eat. Why? You'll die from the aids prevalent in their food.
  • Kebabs, Kebabs, Kebabs, Chips, Burgers
  • Fantastic meal out for any occasion on a budget. Superb value and truely lovely food accompanied by great service... go to Tida Thai 330 High Street, Chatham (01634 842489)
  • The Post Office Pub when the chef actually turns up is cheap and lovely, spent many a hangovers there.
  • any fast food!
  • Tida Thai restaraunt in Chatham High Street - best foo I've ever had....in Kent.
  • tida thai restuarant is a place for delumptious food plus the owners daughter is buff
  • The greatest takeaway is Kebab Express on Railway Street, opposite the Tap n' Tin pub. They do a great chicken kebab, make sure you get the grilled one -- it's marinated in olive oil and lemon juice and a small one will do two to share! I believe they also deliver free of charge: perfect for when you've got the munchies.
  • Confusious Chinese restaurant.About 300 metres down from Luton Arches, opposite the old cinema building.Owned by a bald bloke called Ming. He'll take you home if you're too pissed to get a taxi!
  • The takeaway accross the road from the Tap and Tin is well-worn stumbling ground.
  • Numerous Burger Bars. 3 main ones exist. The indian guy with a sidekick that reminds me of a skinny and small (and less jolly) version of santa claus. There is also numerous people running the next stall, all seem to be chain smokers (whilst on the stall). The third stall seems reasonably professional containing a gang of middle aged women in uniforms!
  • The Monsoon, run by Sham & Salina is excellent. One of the best Indian & Thai restaurants I've visited. They've got away from 'chicken vindaloo & onion bhaji' and come up with a really interesting menu.
  • Bengal Brasserie is nice but pretty expensive, The best Pizza place in Chatham is World Pizza opposite Halfords. Its cheap & really nice.
  • Mc donalds on highstreet with alley downside that is sticky from all the gurkin thrown on the floor.
  • If you want to order anything from the cafe in Allders, it's best to telephone your order at least one hour before you get there.
  • Chatham Grill kebab shop opposite the Jolly Caulkers pub just of the High St. Mmmmmmmmmmm.....Kebab! said in a Homer Simpson stylee.
  • Bell's, near Loco and Tony & Franco's (cheapest, most manly haircut around), serve a mean cod/plaice/frog/land-shark and chips. Although the staff aren't as cheeky as they could be, it's an old-style diner. You feel like you're in Pulp Fiction.
  • Cute old bakery on top floor of Pentagon centre in Victorian style.
  • Duru's Kebab shop on the Rainham Road
  • The Akash - Good grub but they're a distrusting bunch when you pick up your take away - They always scratch your credit card to death trying to prove that it's fake !!
  • If in doubt always a KFC!
  • Grandma Thai's.The best munch in Chatham.
  • WHAT EVER YOU DO - DON'T BUY FISH AND CHIPS AT THE BROMPTON FISH BAR, BROMPTON HIGH STREET, CHATHAM... NOT UNLESS YOU REALLY LIKE CARBOARD CHIPS AND GLOW IN THE DARK FISH.
  • Yeung's Chinese take away and restaurant (as much as you can scoff for a tenner !)
  • The best Indian/Thai restaurant is the "Monsoon" opposite Radio Kent, the menu is varied and extensive.Don't take my word for it ...try it yourself !
  • The Mango Tree: an excellent Indian restaurant on the corner opposite Gillingham Station. For the Medway this is truly exceptional - good food, friendly service, good decor. Expect £50 for three people inc. beer
  • Blueberry Park Sandwich Bar - very nice Usual range of junkfast food stuff
  • The best place to eat in Chatham is the Limehouse Restaurant located on the High Street near Rochester Station. Modern British cooking at reasonable prices and a truly fantastic wine list. 2 AA rosettes and a Healthy eating award
