stinks of piss/booze.
The mad woman who sits on the wall near the cathedral and tells passers by that
they are going to die.
- Frank Bruno used to frequent the pub that I used to work in.
- It is a little known fact but in the humble little village of Writtle (where I was born) was also born one of the UK's most famous warriors, who was also of Royal descent. I am of course talking about the Scottish Hero Robert Bruce (or Robert Le Brus), who became Robert I of Scotland in 1306AD. Made famous in Mel Gibsons film 'Braveheart', he was the one that fought alongside William Wallace (Mel Gibson). Although this is not historically acurate it is a to complex issue to go into here and Braveheart is a damn fine film that should be judged more on it's entertainment value rather than historical acuracy. Anyway the truth is that Robert Bruce, an Essex born and better still a Writtle born lad, finally defeated the English tyranny of Edward I when his weaker son Edward II took over rule, and then for 23 years this Writtle born lad ruled Scotland. Crazy but true!!!!!
