You can tell us more about Chelmsford.
Cheap Food
- mac d, burger king, kings coffee house, star burger, debenhams.
- The Imperial...which is upstairs in the Town Centre end of Baddow Road... Excellent Chinese Buffet - eat as much as you like for about £5 lunchtimes & about £8 in the evening... Evening menu includes Duck & King Prawns etc etc... absolutely fantastic value fo money!
- the imperial - its a chinky opposite zagger near the odeon. its cheap and all you can eat . mmmmmmm . great for teenagers to go and much as you can be as loud as you like
- Kings. Mrs Cod.
- Mrs Cod
- Really like The Back In Time pub, which is down the road next to Dukes, its really nice.
- Chelmsford YMCA "The Munchies" young peoples cafe - Saturday lunchtimes
- Aroma
- Pizza Express
- The county hotel is a great hotel, however expensive with banquets and a classy restaurant.
- so many great fast food shops, as long as you want something with 6 times the recommended amount of daily fat increase and lots of grease to fully clog your arteries, why don't more healthy shops open!!!!
- ne where
- The best italian in essex by far you have got to try it is Riccardos!
I can guarantee the pizza is better than you have tasted anywhere in the UK
- Leks Thai Food in the Multistory car park is great and cheap.
Bada is really good restaurant with a minimal modern decor. Very chilled and relaxed, the staff are friendly and the food is great.
- maccy d or burger king
- Bada is lovely is you want a special night out. Waterfront place is also good but I went there on a hot summer evening last year and there was no airconditioning which marred the evening a bit. but I can't fault the food.
The best pub food has got to be The Alma in Arbour Lane for sophisticated pub food. The Two Brewers in Springfield Road do the best pub Sunday dinner in Chelmsford. The Ship do the best burgers in Chelmsford (I'd rather go there than McDonalds ANYTIME). But the place that wins everytime for me is D-Place, the Saracens Head Hotel restaurant. The food is impeccable, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is really chilled.
- Best Thai - Siam Cottage.
- Mrs.Cod, for the greasy, cheap burgers and chips that all teens live on.
- macdonalds and burger king
- none alll rubbish
- army and navy - brilliant food severn days a week 12-8 all meals under a fiver
- Waterfront - pukka nosh at not so pukka prices. Posh too!
- The Thai in Baddow Road is good - you gotta look for it though cos its only a door to upstairs next to the jewellery shop near that ugly, wierd-looking statue thing.
- Bengal Blues in Writtle for Indian!
- ...pizza hut, pizza express...and your shitty fast food resteraunts, naturally...
- Mrs Cod!! and of course maccy d's for hanging out
- maccie deeees yeah junk food its great if your under weight but if you look like an elephant go to the salad bar.
- Thank god for McDOnalds.
- The only restaurant worth visiting in Chelmsford is 'The New Street Brasserie' on new street (near the new part of anglia uni). The food is amazing, atmosphere is outstanding and the staff are extremely helpful and welcomming. I recommend going there.
- ive have always maintained chelmsford is full of oiks, you have all done well to reinforce this view....well done!
- pizza hut!!!! - but macdonalds is good if ur on a budget :)The 2 chineases in Baddow road cheap an chearful, but nice food.
- The White Hart in Springfield is great for good quality pub food, the portions are huge and really cheap! Lloyds no 1 has also just opened next to Edwards which is a Wetherspoons so the food is really cheap and its right in the town centre so no walking!
- Mcd's
- Bonoful indian in Woodhall Rd is the nicest in town, ive had them all and Crazy chef not KFC even though it is nice.
- The person who talks about Chi Chi's hasn't been to Chelmsford for about 2 years because that is about as long as it changed to Tumbleweed! PS BADA RULES!
- Definately Pizza Express - I used to work there and I know it's nice and clean. The pizzas are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
- WEST END KEBABS- ALWAYS GOOD AFTER A NIGHT ON THE TOWN- GO IN LATE (NEAR 3 OR 4) AND YOU CAN GET LOADS FOR £3.00 BECAUSE THEY WILL ONLY THROW IT OUT OTHERWISE!!! - DO NOT GO THOUGH, IF YOU HAVE STANDARDS OF WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO EAT!!!!
- Starbucks is cool since our friend emma works there, she only 17 but is getting married to a 30 year old!
- too many.. good pizza places.. mrs cod does chips and battered sausage for a quid... excellent stuff that... robinsons does good hash browns.
- DON'T GO TO MRS COD!!!!
- mrs cod vastly improvin and u get a load for ya money i got a free battered sausage once by usein my cunin wit!!!!
- Maccy D's, high st. Mrs. Cod, on Moulsham st (does top grub). There's also a f+c shop further up from there (can't remember name ) which is A1!!! Cheng's brother, which is on King's road is also really good.
- Oooh the delightful Chicago's. It is a place of wonder and splendour. Except I work there, which makes it suck.
- bada
Has to be the hippest restaurant in Chelmsford (Broomfield Road). It looks expensive but actually isn't. The music is cool, chilled out, the food is to really good.
- the gresy spoon known as roses(down the a12) lovely fry up i stop there every morning
- The best restaurants in Chelmsford are Back in Time (They also do delicious cocktails here)& Tumbleweeds (Here they do really strong jugs of strawberry Margheritas). There are also loads of Chinese and Indian Restaurants- Which are all good value for money. For all you rich People out there try Waterfront Place. It overlooks the river and its a reall nice posh restaurant to go to . The food is lovely. Try the chicken salad its yummy.
- maccy d's
- There is the usual pizza hut, pizza express, mcdonalds, burger king etc.If you want expensive (but very good) food go to the Waterfront (you'll have to book) If you want cheap but good pub food go to the Globe. The Rat & Parrot do slightly more expensive pub food. Yate's food is the same price as the globe,, but personally I have never been happy with the food or service here. If you want really cheap no nonsense (fish & chips, burger and chips) pub food in the daytime go to the Bay Horse. For takeaway fish and chips it has to be Robinsons in Moulsham Street. If you are drunk or stupid enough to want a kebab then Mr Ram's kebab in Moulsham street. For Chinese and Indian (takeaway and eat in) food there are loads!! the best are to be found in Baddow Road or up near the police station/ Wheatsheaf pub. For Mexican/Texan food there is Tex-Mex (formerly Chi-Chi's) opposite Yates.
For (more up market)American diner style food there is Back in Time (opposite the Y) the desserts are huge!! Beware though, they have a bar, but are only licensed to serve drinks with food, also you can only book tables for up to 10 people as it is quite a small place. The Hot House does quite nice evening meals with a candlelight atmosphere.
- Robinsons on mousham st
- Millie's Cookies in the Meadows is brilliant. Last year there were some really nice girls working there but now most of them have left.
- Seabrights barn is a good pub/restaurant. They are fairly cheap and the portions are huge as well as yummy. It's opposite Deadmans Lane in Galleywood.
- It's got to be KFC man - a bargain bucket normally sorts me out big time
- Good good good, this is Essex we live on Take aways
- Why has no-one mentioned Chi-Chi's?! In Backnang Square opposite Yate's. Intimate yet lively, not expensive and the food is out of this world! Don't worry if you think you might not like Mexican food, it's not all about chilli! If not, you can always try the bar and have a go at a tequilla slammer. Too many of thise and you'll be aquainted with the floor very quickly!
- Best take away in town is Robinsons Chip shop on Moulsham Street ideal as this is the area of town with most Pubs also Mr Rams Kebabs is in this area
- Waterfront Place on Navigation Rd is a fantastic Italian restaurant. The prices are comparable to Pizza Express.
- The Cellar bar on Duke Street does really good food for both lunch and dinner
- billy rays is now closed down
- McDonalds, Southern fried chicken (open till one we love you!), Dixy fried chicken, Burger King, Mrs Cod, Wimpy, Meadows Coffee Shop, John Menzies Cafe, Chicago's, Chicago Rock Cafe, Chi chi's and Billy Rays (cocktail bar).
- Dixy beats Southern on the chicken front; it stays open till after whenever Dukes chucks out (eg 1.30am on a Monday).
- Codfather (also Duke St) ties with Mrs Cod for Best Chippy Award.
- The Kebaberie (Duke Street) and Mr Ram's Kebabs (Moulsham Street, next to Mrs Cod) are both great joints for culinary fans.
