Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
- THe barhouse, victoria rd
- Chicagos, Bar 7, The Bar
- This may be in colchester, but it;s only a stones throw away :D
- dukes, edwards, llyods, yates, que pasa, the peg.
- Glad zeus is shut down always full of idiots most of them to young to be out past ten. Reds was the same especialy if your a pikey and aint got no teeth or abit of a chav its ok if you like your men to piss up the bar or you dont wanna breath for long cos of the smoke machine, which is only on so much to hide the fact there is only 5 people in there. Dukes is ok if your 15 yrs old or wanna pull a school girl who thinks shes a spice girl and cant walk in her shoes. Its full of people who think they are gods gift to the human race and fights are usualy over who gets to take the slapper over the park for a shag. Friday and saturday nights in chelmsford you will find it hard to find adults or somewhere where you havent got screeming drunken over emotional teens. THANK GOD THERE IS A CHICAGO'S. OK so some of the women are OLDER and desperate for a shag in the high steet with some young lad just to proove they can still pull at 50. But in chicago's no-one thinks they are better than everyone else its all abit of a laugh and for those who dont want beat box barry on their nights out the music is great, its a great place for a dance and a giggle and the bouncers are georgous. Rmember to always start your night out in the ivory peg as it is the best place for really cheap drinks to get your night off to a good start. Edwards and Lloyds ok if you are a sardine in a tin.
- Bring back the army and navy. Or console yourself at the basement.
- the y
- Dukes Genesis
- Chicagos, Smiths2,
- The Bassment Club tries to support all genre's of music. Live music extends from Rock and Blues through to Jazz and Country. see www.thebassmentclub.com
- The Y
- Dukes, reds, zeus
- Bassment near back of train station. Sat night... great music (indie rock eg Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Stones etc). Relaxed crowd. NOT a heaving meat market!
- After reading your reviews, i'm going to try The Basement club, sounds my kind of thing. Dukes = expensive for drinks, Reds = is a total meatmarket with a young crowd. For anyone who likes 'proper music' you could always try The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh.
- if ya wana gd night init then ya gotta go dukes blud. there is many a filthy ho that are so desperate they just spread like marg. i dnt often leave alone tho the blouncers normally escourt me out, you cannot catch an std there as every one in there already has em.
- Chelmsford YMCA - Crossbar Club - Friday Nights, for any one in school years 8 to 13, no smoking or alcohol but pleanty of friendly people and great music and special nights. Live Bands every 2nd Friday in the month
- Zeuze
- ZEUS WAS THE BEST BUT ITS NOW SHUT AND KNOCKED DOWN SO MORE BLODDY FLATS CAN BE BUILT! PLANNING PERMISSION WASN'T GRANTED FOR A RELOCATION OF THE CLUB BECAUSE OF THE SO CALLED BINGE DRINKING CULTURE!
DUKES IS A WELL NICE CLUB BUT THE DANCE FLOOR IS TOO SMALL AND YOU HAVE TO RE-MORGAGE YOU'RE HOUSE TO BUY A ROUND OF DRINK (AND THATS INCLUDING STUDENT NIGHTS ON A MONDAY!!!)
REDS IS VERY SMALL AND DARK BUT GO THERE IF YOU LIKE OLD MINGING LADIES. PLENTY OF BARS IN THE CENTRE WITH THE BEST ONE BEING THE TOAD. BEST TO GO LLOYDS FORST, THEN TOAD THEN QUEUE AN HOUR TO GET IN TO DUKES.... TAKE PLENTY OF MONEY! YOU'LL NEED BECAUSE THE BIRDS (WHO ARE FIT) ONLY WANT YOU TO BUY THEM A DRINK!
- Well the cave doesn't do live music sadly, now a strip club (chelmsfords first!) woo. So no more under 18 nights! Oh yeah and there knocking down Zuse (what a shame!)
- ZEUS is not shit.you can hav a gd laugh there and its not expensive either and da music is gr8.
- Zeuze
- zeuz is the best club in town it is massive and everyone goes there plus it has high sercuirity so u don't get anyone there who looks like there gonna hit ya. if your under 16 then you can go on some wednesdays when they have a night just for under 16 but isn't always as gd as the propaer nights
- Being a 20 something into design, funky/jazzy/latino/breaks/house music type stuff and in Chelmsford i would recommend - the bar, the cellar, the cave and thats about it. Everything else is quite depressing. I would avoid all the big bars (yates, edwards, lloyds, toad) and the clubs zeus :S , reds (argh!) , dukes (Bleugh!) (although to be fair, the sub-club of dukes "decadence" tastes for a more on the ball clientel. If your sick of Chelmsford, you should make your way down to southend for bars like Clarence Yard, Sunrooms, Inane and look out for nights like Exposure @ Ego (fantasic dj apperances inc. Scratch Perverts, Unkle and Giles Peterson). Also Leigh on Sea (just like a super small brighton)..
- The club scene in Chelmsford is very poor. It's mostly your typical essex thing, where the only standard for getting seems to be your shoes! The Basement is good on a Friday for an alternative to dance music, more your kind of indie rock thing. Similar to the old cellar bar in Romford, and one of the only clubs in Chelmsford where i don't feel too old, being over 21.
- Either the bayhorse edwards or loyds the old a+n was THE place though
- dukes, zuse, the y if ur that kinda person the fridge the cave!
- The Bassment is a good alternative choice of venue as opposed to other clubs in Chelmsford. The music is not as commercial, you can expect to hear more rock based music on a Saturday night, The Undertones, Guns N Roses, Foo Fighters etc. The atmosphere if relaxed and friendly with a mixed crowd and age groups but not too young. £5 to get in on a Saturday night and the clock room is free.
- There are no decent clubs in Chelmsford - Zeus is the biggest shithole ever, actually it wouldn't be bad if they played proper music. I once got almost completely naked in there as part of a male lap dancing contest, got i was f****d out my head. The only good thing about Dukes is the fact that there are plenty of essex slappers in there and I once created a mosh pit in there whilst Limp Bizkit was playing - i don't like limp bizkit but i was in a trendie club so any s**t would do.
- Not dukes, or Zeus ....yuck!! there are no decent clubs in chelmsford as far as i know.
- Beware of jail bait in zeus
- the y on friday nite it rocks mosh pit music and u make a whole lot of kool peeps!
- Zeus- one word if wanna get groped by anybody and everybody then feel free to go
Reds- grab a granny
Dukes- cheap alcohol good music what nore could u want
- I don't like meatmarkets.. I mean clubs. However I'f you like Dance Music and expensive drinks go to Dukes or Zeus. If you like a wider range of music (pop, rock, indie)and pub priced drinks go to The Basement in Wells Street. In my opinion the only 'club' worth going to in Chelmsford. People seem to leave their attitude at the door and just have a good time.
- The Y club is the definitive Essex greebo hangout
- none down central park is gr8. who needs clubs apart from the "y" if ur a greebo
- Pukes is the main club - cant think y its called that?!
- Pissed and Confused Bikers Club - you gotta be a "biker" not a "motorcyclist" though. If you think riding around wearing leathers, a lid, gloves and boots that all match your bike colours is cool then stay away. If you call people that dress like that "Power Rangers" and laugh and point at them then you should be there!
- Dukes!! Of course, and if your really pikey Zeus. Little tarts night on a weds (otherwise known as under 18's) is hilarious though!! Just stand outside the video shop and watch them all fall over in their heals and chat up spotty 14 year old boys in baseball caps!!
- Let's see... trendy shiteholes? Zeus, Icon... don't know many trend-o-clubs. Try friday night at the Y, or any night at the Amry and navy...or the Brentwood Hermit. All great fresh alternative stuff there. By the way, i resent being called a greebo, being stereotped as sweaty, greasy, crude, etc. My dreads are cleaner than most trendies fingernails.
- Club Zeus update: The outside has been painted and Zeus removed, under new management, soon to be done up inside and name changed to 'Image'. Entrance on monday £8 and no more spent once in as you take back your empty bottle or glass and get another drink, £10 on friday and saturday (£8 for the ladies), where else can you get drunk for a tenner on a friday and saturday night
- zeus,reds,dukes
- The Basement in the West End. Someone said that there's going to be a new club, also in the West End, near the railway station?
- oh dear, zeus and dukes, come out at two in the morning where u normally see someone on the floor lying face down not in a pool of vomit but in a pool of there own blood-dukes was once a half decent place to go but since the refit its turned into a hole normally frequented by sad losers who dance for five hours on end and look like a muppet doing so also likes to think its the superclub of the east with podium dancers and all although they have these on when s club 7 starts playing
- If U fancy something a bit different, try the Army & Navy on a Wednesday/Sunday nite. (If it is still going) Great people, great crowd, great music. Otherwise U can leave Chelmsford and look for something a bit better club wise. I did and now live In Sydney, Oz. Cracking scene, cracking music, cracking people, all down under.
- Dudes, I Have to say essex and especially chelmsford is not bad for clubbing at all, Ok so dukes requires a mortgage to buy a round of drinks and zeus has the combined iq of a meatloaf, but its a laugh and where i am from (porkhampton) has a complete lack of atmosphere. So stop winging and enjoy what you have, because guy and girls "YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO BE THIS YOUNG AGAIN" C U soon chelmsford
- We love Dukes. and zeus. maybe.
- Zeus - what CAN you say about Zeus that hasn't already been said. Probably by the police and/or the relevant authorities.
- Dukes is da best club in Chelmsford. However, before i looked old enough to get in dukes i spent every monday at zeus, bit of a shit hole, but has cheap drinks and sum nice ladies
- Y CLUB - yes its under 18 and the age of its average clientelle seems to be steadily dropping till you get 3 footers snapping at your knees, but its a great place to meet people who live in your area so you don't need to go for long. Also the music is by far the best in Chelmsford - and that doesnt mean I'm a dirty greeb!
- Zeus and Dukes are both awful for we metallers. don't even mention the y
- ....knowhere has know refered to this section as a dance music club thing... thats not very nice, although point taken. there has only ever been one good place for people under 18 - into the grunge scene - that being the y, but it's gone drastically down hill!!!!!!!! 3 hr q's!!!!!! in the freezing cold winter!!!! i think maybe not! - central would be way better if it wasn't cold, but the cinema is about the only place left. over priced tickets, but nice staff.
- ITS A BAR CALLED BAR2 AT THE 2 BREWERS
SATURDAY NIGHTS ITS CALLED WIDEOPEN AND IS WELL FUNKY
- Dukes is good, Zeus is in a barn, Reds is ok, The Bassment is good, never been to Y.
Edwards bar is good. The Army and Navy is one of the best venues for live music around.
- the Y the Y M C A
- Reds, Dukes and if u like grebo muzic go down the Y on fridays, v.good.
- EW EW EW EW trendies...EW!
- Dukes
Zeus
Reds
and probably the best your house...

- The Y has a new Saturday Y club for 11 - 14 year old starting this week - £2 to come in.
- although the y may be a bit of a shed at the moment, It's my y and i love it! i've noticed the cold detatched atmosphere in zeus where you appear to be "just another brick in the wall" but the y has an outstandingly friendly population ah yeah plus the dj's are the best! For anyone that wants an alternative to the metal punk and nu-metal that my colleagues play, there is "bitter scene" at the basement, a superb indie club. If that doesn't interest you, try the bay horse the best pub in chelmsford with hospitible bar staff and friendly regulars!
- the Y is the place to be as far as alternative rock/metal clubs go for teenagers, but I get so much stick for Djing there! It's dissapointing to hear people slagging the Y-club off as they have quit4e clearly never been. If people are so annoyed about the lack of clubs in chelmsford they should do something about it instead of whining pathetically about how sad and abimsl their lives are! GET SOME FRIENDS!!!
Admittedly at the Y, many of our punters are shallow and closed minded but many are friendly, persecuted individuals who have been bullied for their lifestyles! The atmosphere is thus generally friendly.
The stereotypical headbanging has dissappeared save ye olde rockers amidst the staff who enjoy the odd iron maiden tune! Music varies encompassing pop ie. wheatus, nu- metal, old skool rock/metal, rap-metal, hardcore, punk, hip-hop, rap, corny stuff like tunes from the south-park movie, allsorts really. Our musical genres can change erratically from week to week as well so nights vary in atmosphere. Ocassionally, for special occasions and just for the hell of it, we organise jam nights downstairs and we book bands for upstairs. Last christmas, we even had a bucking bronco! I can confidently say that we may be a shed but we have a superb atmosphere. No matter how depressed or stressed i may be on a friday, the y always gives me that extra bit of relief! For further details on future club events, e-mail Rob (me) at hedshrink_@hotmail.com
- IT HAS TO BE DUKES, I AM NOT SAYING ITS GOOD, BUT IT IS THE BEST FOR HOUSE, DRINKS PRICES ARE A BIT STEEP THOUGH¬
- This is Ria, just popping in to say that Dukes can be lot's of fun on a Monday night! Well 4 me anyway!
- emmm, all the people that hang out at these places are twats but i guess dukes is probly best... go on student night, cheap drinks
- Go to the 'Subway' above the 'D' Place at the top of the high street. It's the only place to go and have a drink and dance to the greatest drum 'n' base music!!! Big up to the Baddow crew!!!
- Army & Navy for good bands...and if you bat for the other team!!
- what about redai don't hear any mention maybe you lot are too young for that!!!!
- zeus is diein out its a sad day, zeus is the big black pit with benders bowlin lookin for fights, bring on dukes!!!birds are harder to pull by theres always a munter close to hand.ALL FOR THE COUNT!!
- Dukes, Zeus (don't like it personally, too knocky). Red's- FOR OVER 21'S ONLY! Mind you, no one under the age of 41 normally goes in there. Most are a bit cheesy, but are good fun, and where i spent my formative years!
- Dukes is always a classic an very cheesy, but nonetheless a good time is always had there. Zeus was good when i was 16 enough said. Chicagos not exactly a club but good for the slightly older person, less interference from teenie boppers. Reds - Why???
- hmm the y is bad and so are all others so....
- Oh God. Someone help us!!! The club 'scene' in chelmsford is diabolical. The 'Y' is a better alternative to some, but is now populated with REMARKABLY young misfits and odd 20-somethings looking to pull a schoolgirl. Howevevr, Dukes and Zeus are utter crap. Dukes, primarily, is a place where people go to ponce about with their Ben Shermans to pick up 'birds'. Zeus isn't even as classy as that. It is a hideous sham. A glitch on the face of the planet, filled with REMARKABLY young girls, blokes who look like Pat Butcher who could probably kick your arse if you told them that, and drunken idiots. NEVER EVER GO. Grr.
- Please do not allow Chelmsford locals access to the internet again. Most are dangerously illiterate and unable to communicate effectively outside of Baddow High School playground
- Alright so Chelmsford's no Ibiza, but then whaddaya expect?! The club scene here is a little lacking in variety but it's always good for a giggle. Dukes does tend to pack in a load of "It girl" wannabes and "I'm god's gift..." fellas, but there's always the normal clubbers too. The music's definately not as good as the interior and the drinks cost a small fourtune, which is pretty poor. Still if good music isn't a main priority and you're looking for somewhere to get dressed up and strut your stuff (or have a laugh with your pals) then Dukes is the way to go. However, if your up for a bit of raving then Zues is definatelty the business. Ok so the rep isn't all that, but honestly, give it a go. Saturday night's are probably the best time to go. It's over 20's (supposedly!) so the environment is a little oler than normal. It's also "Double bubble" night where you get double whatever you pay to get in back in drinks vouchers, so it's effectively half priced drinks(which is always a bonus!). Then there's the music... upstairs they go for garage mainly with a bit of house and old skool mixed in and downstairs you can bump and grind to a bit of R&B. The surroudings aren't that great, but the atmosphere's always fun and the music rules so I definately recommend it! A word of warning to any girls tho, the place is full of wandering hands, so be prepared!!
- THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y.THE Y. so we can rip that shiet up.
- Don't ever go to Dukes or Zeus sober
- I'll say this once, and once only, ZEUS IS BETTER THEN DUKES!!
- Club Zeus Rules saturday nights are the best, with R'n'B downstaris, and lets not forget that you can get a flyer that lets you put as much as you want on the door, so that the club gives you double back, in drink vouchers, it works to get me fcuked.
- Well chelmsford is full of the over populater trendy clubs full of 12 year olds and there boyfriends who r probably old enough to be there dads From personal opinion the Y club in chelmsfor don a friday night is the best club around peeps r friendly u cnat drink in there but most peeps do b4 they come in and u r still allowed in well most a the time and it has a really good atmoshere and no shit is played just good punk/numetal/rock ect
- i love reds for the old gold if you pull down ther you are assured to have youre breakfast cooked for you in the morning
- I've lived in Chelmsford for 10 years I've been to Zues, Dukes, Reds and the Y. The Y hasn't been done up in 20 years I was drinking in there when I was 13 and I did'nt like it then! Its full of weirdo's!. Zues is great on a Saturday a mixture of new and old skool upstairs and Soul, R'n'B and Hip Hop downstairs. Dukes was Re-furbished in early 2000 it cost over 1 million to do and is fantastic, i've been clubbing in London, Ipswich, Leicester, Nottingham, Leeds and a host of others and apart from Home and Fabric in London I have'nt been to a better club than Dukes!
- The best club in Chelmsford has got to undoubtedly be Dukes Genesis (once Dukes Experience) The best thing about it has got to be the DJ's who are sooooo Fine. Dukes is the most expensive of the clubs in chelmsford at 700p to get in after 10.30pm and dinks range from 165p +. Be warned if you drink lager and lime skip the lime because its roughly 90pence a shot. The best nights to go here are on Monday nights and Friday Nights.Reserve your Saturdays for Zeus. What makes it better than dukes on a Thursday Night is that whatever you pay to get in, You get double back in drinks vouchers which can be used all night. RnB is played downstairs and a mixture of Garage, House, Old Skool and Drum n Bass are played upstairs.
- If you value your self-respect, let alone if you have any to begin with, stay clear of all Chelmsford's "cultural" night spots...slitting your wrists would be more enjoyable
- i must say zeus is quality, maybe it is small and pony but ithas the best atmosphere in Essex. The age in there is young but least it makes you feel old. Ignoring some of the dirty scrubbers there are some fit bits that are well up for it. Just because it is small and unknown it has the latest tunes way before other places.
And now I must say what the f**k are people saying about the Y Club, come on it is full of blokes with mascara and birds dressed in black with greasy hair. By the way nice atmosphere in there, you don't know whether to slit your wrists or jump out the window. REAL GOOD!!
Back to Zeus if you want a quality night with good music nand good birds with ridicuously cheap drinks and definitly no greebos go to zeus. Dukes is good if you earn a small fortune and are willing to pay ministry prices for a club in Chelmsford that doesn't even have decks. So request a song and hope they have it on the computer, nice club!. So Zeus rules, dukes is cool and greebos suck
- Well hello people the fact that ur reading about Chelmsford makes u incredibly sad to say the least but well heres my point of view if u r looking for a night out my place is the place to come, my place is of course the one and only DUKESS!!!!!! Yes bring it on if u think u hard enough!!!!
- Zeus=Meat market & Dance music,Dukes= Pretentious meat market & Dance music
, Reds= Older meat market & Dance/(remixed)chart music, The Basement= Indie/Chart/Rock (I use the term in it's loosest sense!)music. If you (like me) want real rock/ metal you're better off going to London or Hollywoods in Romford -- sorry!
- Why is there nothing decent in Chelmsford? I know sooo many people who are gagging for a good techno or Drum & Bass club/night. What this town needs is a bloody revolution with the heads of the owners of Zeus & Dukes to be paraded through the High Street on spikes. Ahem.. Excuse me. The only thing on offer at the moment is a one off drum & bass night called Subway which I saw a poster for in the subway under Parkway but guess where it is... The Royal British sodding Legion. Do me a favour! What is wrong with this town, I mean Southend and Colchester have all got at least one good venue like the Arts Centre or Saks and Basildon's well... Basildon. So COME ON. SORT IT AAAAT!
- all the clubs in chelmsford are terrible except the Army and Navy have some tops gigs occationally
- the 'Y' used too be ok but where they got a new DJ it went down hill now only fully bred greeboo's go anyelse gets the shit kicked out of them!
- Dukes and Zeus are pretty good.
- Dukes is massive with fit blokes but drinks are a rip off!
Zeus is a bit like a warehouse with a lot happenin!
- CLUB ZEUS RULES!! I'm a student in the area, and I've been in Chelmsford for two years now and abslolutly love zeus!! Good pi**es noght out with your mates with no hassle!! Dukes is too pushey and 'wanna be trendies' who trat the place (and people) like they're in CREAM or something..
Relaxed, very fun nights out, with cheap drinks and very sexxy DJ on thurs and Sat.! Old scool and Party nights are the best.. Give it a go! (it's more of a big dancing pub than a club) so GO!!!
- Of all the clubs in Chelmsford I would rather go to the basement, however, Rock City in Nottingham is far better.
- Clubs are ok,the youngish birds certainly polish your pulling skills.Watch out though for heavilly tattooed skinhead nutcase 30 something alcoholics looking for young faces to stamp on.
- Me and the North Springfield Massive always go to Dukes on a Friday. As Saturday is night out with me Babe, she like it to go to Zues (for happy hour) then on to the Basement. I'm not too keen on the Basement mind, it's normally full of Hippies. mind, my mate is a bouncer there so Shaza and me normally get in for free.
- Dukes and Zeus. Now dukes has just been refurbished which is nice and I apparently cost 1 milion to do. Yet from my experience it's not that good and the music is... well... SHIT. If it's the music you're looking for, which let's face it all true clubbers are, it's Zeus. Although Zeus has some less than acceptable dance floor action and tends to earn itself the title of Chelmsford meat market, it does play the best tunes in Chelmsford. If that's anything to go by. So although Dukes is a touch more classy, and therefore up its own arse, Zeus does give you a better night for your money.
- Dukes, not Zues unless your underage, Reds if you wanna pull ya mum, Basement err, never been,
Dukes Reopens in March, Big shout out to all the Dukes Possy!
- WELL MY PREFERED CLUB WOULD BE THE Y CLUB ON FRIDAYS WHICH USED TO CALLED CLUB SKINT BUT SOMING WENT ON AND NOW IT NEEDS A NEW NAME !! IT PLAYS DECENT MUSIC UNLIKE THOSE PLACES LIKE DUKES AND ZEUS I MEAN THEY ARE OK ONCE IN A WHILE BUT THE Y IS MORE FUN AND RELAXED ALL TOGETHER A BETTER PLACE TO BE
- The best club in Chelmsford is Club Zeus done Rainsford Road. Monday night are wicked, the music is great, the atmosphere is banging and of course drinks are only £1 each.
- The y club rules and has total power over all other clubs get down to club skint on friday night 7:30 - 11:30 for some real music no dress code , oh yer GREEBOS rule the place buy the way but i love it
- What you mean like Putters International? Oh right, Dance... Non-existant
- Dopnt go to Dukes unless your a sad Essex boy or girl
- Just got to say that Zeus on a Friday kicks off big style. Excellent DJs and cheap beer a pound a bottle. Dukes is strictly for non-Chelmsfordians who don't know any better.
- The basement.£3 to get in open from 9pm to 2am opposite the bus station great for all kinds of music at the weekend indie and rock and some great eighties stuff, in the week jazz and alsorts mixed age group twenties upwards though over 18's
- Y-Club on a Frday night for any rat-arsed 14 year olds is always fun
- The basement is a small club down a road opposite the bus station. Can't remember the name of the road. It has a blues 'jam' evening during the week and plays modern dance/britpop/indie stuff of Fridays and Saturdays. The only alternative from tacky Essex nightlife.
- Since my taste run more rock than dance, Chelmsford is a bit grim. The best I've found so far is the Bassment on a friday night, which plays a sort of Virgin radio music mix, not bad atmos, but a bit cramped at times.
- The Basment down a little street oppsoite the bus station is a cozy little club that sometimes has good nights.
- Zeus has now been with us a year and we love it. It's on three levels, loads of bars, the drinks are "reasonable" especially on student night (Monday) when you can get in for a pound with an NUS card. It can get a bit busy at times (ie. you can end up queing for ages to get in) but it is worth it.
Zeus is shite. It just tries so hard to be Dukes, but unfortunately has no chance of attaining equal status. Zeus now has another level - Queuing for 3 hours outside Dukes (the only club worth going to), to be told they're full.
Dukes is not the only club worth going to it's the club to find silver coated Teeny Boppers. Whatever anyone says Dukes is the Chelmsford club; the one place you should visit if you're in the area because it sums up so much of what Cfd is about and why so many people either love or hate it. Monday or Friday night -- the music isn't spectacular, the lights are, the girlies wear skirts that barely exist (even in winter... no, especially in winter...). Monday: In for a quid, drinks very cheap before 10pm, so arrive early (probably before 9), grab a sofa and stock up the table... Friday: More expensive, slightly fewer 13 year-old girls, slightly better music -- you decide. - Reds (21's). As a new resident to this lovely place, I was eager to check out the nightlife pronto. Reds was my first choice - £7 to get in and packed in like bloody sardines, not my idea of a good night out. My boyfriend went the following week and narrowly missed getting his pretty face smashed in! And there was me thinking Chelmsford was a friendly place to live. So where is the decent nightlife then? Someone, somewhere must have the answer.
- Enigma, previously known as Coopers, place where 18 year olds feel like they should take a Zimmer frame!
- Just thought I'd let you know that the club Enigma, although a bit ropey on the whole, has a really good Indie / rock night on Wednesday and is currently organising a lot of club tours to Bagleys Mud Club and The Ministry which are pretty good.
