  • Marc Bolan was born here (not in Clacton, Chaffley, Ruislip, London or Keggers Hill) in 1945 and took his band name (T Rex) from local pub The Rex and Hounds (localy caled "T'Rex"). He released his second ever single in honour of Chuffing Hell (the record came with a map of local interests and a poster of mayor Olaf Twixley)
  • Bully Eye - the bull from that famous Sunday early evening darts TV gameshow Bullseye has since retired and now lives in Chuff. He can be seen down t'Scuttle ont'Sunday night f'pub quiz. Ain't he 'alf thick mind?
