Pubs
- Doese Jimmy Mac still own the Rising Sun as when I left for Canada in1966
- RISING SUN! Risen again! Opens Sept 2004
- The best Pub here is the Hogs Lodge. The Hogs Lodge is a great Pub, with friendly staff and THE BEST beer garden... The Rising Sun was always a dump (went in there once, all the regular bar gnomes all turned around and stared at the same time) but it''s recently been torn down to be replaced by a much bigger and better pub of the same name. The new building looks like it could be quite good when it's done, but the Hogs is still my preference.
- just an update about the Rising Sun, the dump has been pulled down. instead a nice new pub is being built, its got flints in the walls and everything so fits in with the rest of the village.
- The Rising Damp is quite good if you like being attacked and chucked out for saying 'shit'. But they're tearing it down and building a new one soon. So there.
I'd go to the Hog's Lodge.
- The Rising sun might look like a portacabin from the out side even a cricket pavillion, but this is no reflection to the inside , warm and cosy, good bear good food, when advertised good entertainment, as well as charity fund raising events, live music, darts , cribbage, quiz nights. Rick and Marlene have been there for over 18 months and are waiting to greet you, you had better make it quick, this will be its last year as a portacabin, no longer will it be the pub that was built in a day.

- The Rising Sun, South Lane Old Clanfield. Looks like a scout hut from the outside but nice and comfy inside, food is good too with friendly staff and regulars who like a chat.
- the pub (if u can call it that aka the wooden hut) sux ass
- the rising (dump)sun
- Rising Sun best pub for people old enough, which I am!
And everyone knows that the Anchor in Horndean (short walk away) is the best place for a "fresh faced" crowd, who appear remarkably young for over 18s....
- The Rising Sun - Portakabin with flower baskets
- Yeh down Chalton lane theres a top pub calld the Red loin and it's in the good beer guide ,has a family room ,great beer (so my dad says),a garden and it has a log fire in winter .Also theres a pub just offf the motor way called the hogs lodge it has seating for all good food and drink ,playground, seating outside, pigs ,fire in winter and it's in the good beer guide.
- The Hogs lodge has recently been taken over and unfortunatly the food there isn't half as good as it used to be. However the Red Lion in chalton serves excellent food - the only problem is it gets very busy because its so good.
- The Rising Sun - Famous for being built in a day - it's a pre-fab building. Not a bad pub, a lot better nowadays than it used to be. Not too pricey for the south, a couple of bitters including Ruddles and Directors, it's not for connesieurs. Beware walking home past Peel Park, abuse is likely to be hurled at you for absolouely no reason except that you're not a moron, and you are old enough to get into pubs.
Most of the info is correct, but the Rising Sun sells a lot more than two bitters. Every two weeks there is a new guest ale to be sampled. - The Hogs Lodge - On the old A3, haven't been there for years, it used to be alright, nice food. Probably still is.
- The Farmer Inn - In nearby Catherington, about 1/2 a mile away. Gales Ales pub, so lots of nice HSB, Southdowns, and Best from everyones favourite Horndean brewery. Sometimes the pub is friendly, other times it isn't, but you're unlikely to get actually hit or anything, just stares.
