  • loofers is really good..youve got the starbucks and costa's as well, but bakers oven do a good coffee. loofers is the place to go for a hot chocolate in town. unless your nr a b&q cos theyre hot choc is the best ever!
  • Williams and Griffin's top floor restaurant serves everything from small snacks, drinks and meals. Based on the high street. with panoramic views of colchester
  • Skeleton Coast on queen street has undoubtedly stolen the King of milkshakes title. Trust me.......... you have never in your life had a better more real shake. I promise!!
  • There are a few nice coffee shops in town (e.g vagabonds, the old coffee court house) but i recommend 'cafe rouge' located down the highstreet near to jd sports.it has a great atmosphere, nice and peaceful very cultured you feel as if you are in france and gorgeous hot chocolates.if you like a place to chill, smoke a cigarette and read a novel it's the place to be.
  • there is a lovely small cafe i used to go to wen i was young its near backers
  • Believe me when i say dudes. Skeleton Coast in Queen Street make the best milk shakes an d smoothies I have ever tasted. They are huge and thicker than ever they do different ones to normal types also.
  • costa in culver square, of course.
  • Awesome Shakes to be had at Skeleton Coast in Queen Street.
  • lots of little places bouncers on eld lane is great lots of reeli yummy food but thts where the stoners go and buy munches
  • Avoid the student dives, such as Vagabonds. Puccino's was the best until it closed down!
  • Vagabonds. Loads of skaters, grungers and goths hang out here. Leather couches and everyone is smoking! Purple patch on crouch street, the same.
  • debenams cafe is cool.
  • 'Life' gallery has a fine upstairs gallery cum cafe where you can watch the world go by. Cafe Med on the high street is friendly and always plays interest world music.
  • Cafe Paradise...Spaghetti Bolognese with AMAZINGLY hot chili sauce...yummy!
  • Vagabonds is still good for a sandwich, although more expencive with it's new ownership. Check out Alfredo's next to games work shop where you can get a sandwich and a drink for around £2.
  • Not so great. there's a few but they're either too popular or they're crap...
  • -Mcleans (sp??) Bar Cafe. Lovely place for a hot chocolate or coffee also sells food during day and becomes a night spot in the evening -Impact. a very cheap coffee shop on north hill opposite the 6th form. nice drinks and plesant atmospher. also if you are a student there is a 25%!!! discount
  • 'Live' gallery / coffee shop, culver street. Some graet artworks and good coffee too.
  • Church streer has some small nice coffee shops. HAHA is ok...
  • millions and millions. stay away from yates and the haha bar though.....
  • HAHA BAR AND CANTEEN is excellent for a quiet drink and cake during the day
  • sad sack cafe unfortunately and sadly doesnt exist anymore.......but try Picassos opposite the catalogue shop and wilkos and also just down the road from Vagabonds which I would agree is another great place to meet, eat and cissect life lol..Picassos is a cafe that has been under several changes of management but new owner have recently revamped it and even boasts comfy settees and fish tank together with licenced bar reasonable prices no grease on plates and friendly staff who happen to be turkish who bytheway seem to have taken over colchester one way or another and run some of the nightclubs as well the ceiling seems to have had a much welcomed makeover courtesy of watching too many changing rooms on tv I would say use it or lose it a good motto sad sack cafe being the sad example
  • Dix-neuf..well...it used to be Dix-neuf...but now Red Onion took it over and it's completely changed...perhaps because..theyre a totally diferent company.....oh well..I still go in there. Ah yes..the Debanhams cafe. Hehe...they do cool kids meals.
  • the bakers oven lovely warm snack food and cakes
  • Sad sack cafeon the High street. The place does everything from coffee, which is some of the best in Colchester to American ice cream sodas. Oh and some of the best burgers ever. Point to note, dont be afraid to chat to the owner, he's a hive of chat, gossip and local news all in on, mad as a fish to boot.

  • best coffee in town , bar 33 , have a latte , then try and go back to the filter rubbish served elsewhere , with the added bonus of no college brats sitting next to you for three hours chainsmoking over the same drink .
  • cafe rouge
  • Loads of places to drink coffee. Most unusual is Sad Sack Cafe? You can get a genuine American soda in there from the real equipment. Impressed me anyway.
  • Vagabonds the ultimute post night out venue, cool stuff, staff and prices.
  • I can't believe that no-one has yet mentioned Vagabonds! I was amazed that a place as spohisticated as that existed in Colch as that. their garlic bagels are gorgeous (though their strength sugggests Colch has a vampire problem...)
  • Try Carl Marx on Osbourne St. for this cool buffet style lunch thing. Also the Lemon Tree below Traders of the East, access via Eld Lane or Osbourne Street.
