  • ooops, maybe this was supposed to be where i added go bananas for the midgets and rollerworld. i know a few peeps wont be into this but i love the wivenhoe trail as well. it rocks!
  • Mountain boarding section is needed!! This is the biggest growing sport internationally and in a few years will be as big if not bigger than all other major board sports.
  • What are you all talking about you mad bastards - ever heard of the Lakes, you may end up there!!
  • Colchester Street Festival: lots of everything, music, street arts, Colour samba, real ale bar September 9th-11th Castle Park and the Town
  • Muse come from colchester!!!!!
  • Mountainboarding is the biggest up and coming inter-national sport. It has past all the tests man. Skeleton coast in colchester have brought this extreme sport to us. It is really fantastic. You got to give it a go. I am a skater but i reckon this will be bigger than snowboarding aswell. You can go on any terrain and you dont need snow. It bring the best of skateboarding and snowboarding together in one fine adrenelin driven experience.
  • colchester is brill!
  • The Colchester festival - the street festival september 13th and 14th uses about 450 entertainers, dancers, actors, poets, writers, and so on. Music workshops, dance workshops, drumming, and carnival arts and a samba parade. The Great Cloth fair in the park something for everybody, all welcome to join in and everything free. Look out for the publicity about August or ask at the visitor info centre The Free Festival - August Bank Holiday Monday- a free festival with multiple stages, lots of bands, stalls, demonstratuions, green issues, llots of bars and a huge variety of other stuff. In the park. Free. The New Route Theatre Company - offers opportunities in a professional environment to new writers, out of work professional actors and people who want to work with professional actors, lighting directors, stage management etc,. Aims to mout at least six new productions each year plus a sprinkling of classics as well. Theit Midsummer Nights Dream directed by Dorian kelly was the best thing I have ever seen.
  • If you visit Colchester, you must visit a tanning shop. We have about 6 different stand up -tanning shops. The must have orange glow completes the essex look.
  • Bands from Colchester... Special Duties (www.special_duties.surf3.net) - Your favourite 1977 punk band from Colchester, no? The Nucklhedz (www.the-nucklhedz.org.uk) - Shit name, good(ish) music. Slugworth (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/40/slugworth.html) - Because I have a very vague link to them.
  • dont stereotype us essex gals we aint no dizty slags which shag anything in trousers, as thick as two short planks, dont stand on street corners or dance round our handbags all though we r very sexy!!!
  • After having lived in colchester most of my life, i don't think it's that bad a place to live. But it's like every other place it's got it's bad points, i.e the parking fee is a ripe off,& the High St is the big joke ever in colchester if we all had a tenner for everytime it got riped up and relayed we'd all be rich. The police force are not like nazi's just if you called them you'd have more chance of catching a cold be for they arrive, unless it's you they whant to nick.
  • if you want a gym in colchester go to Hamiltons Fitness centre in the colchester business park. it is the only REAL gym in colchester. you'll see everyone there.
  • if you young and single and female the best place to pull on saturday in the day is in the castle park wer loadz of townies and grungers hang out in seperate groups or try the skate park
  • The Gilberd School sounds a bit dodgy now - it used to be great (speaking between 76 & 83). Obviously there will always be hideous teachers....
  • the best place for calenders with subjects such as women is the callender club down red lion walk{it comes out opposit the berlin wall}
  • Severals Rise Housing Estate should be called ASDA view, a lovely sculptured piece of architechture (not) to have slapped at the end of your garden.
  • The Colchester ghost tour is not to be missed.....very very entertaining, and more than a little offbeat.....find out more from Derek@colchester-tours.freeserve.co.uk. A good alternative to the usual night down the pub....lots of drinking time included, and a lot of local history of the sort not found in your average tour of the town.
  • Colchester should be as pleasant as York and Chester but it isnt Its on the edge of being a dump, and becoming more of a dump because those at the top dont listen!!. Where have we heard that before
  • As I recall, just off one of the High Streets is a small church and churchyard. Even on the brighest, sunniest day this church yard was a lovely dark olive green and grey place with a gnarled tree and gravestones at every angle. The perfect setting for a gothic horror story. This is as of 1978 when I was University there, so things may have changed.
  • They make Colchester Lathes here -- finest lathes in the world.
But I've just learned that Colchester Lathe is but a footnote in the annals of time. Now that makes me sad. I may have been the only American citizen to have ever been an employee of Colchester Lathe Co Ltd (UK). I'll never forget.
  • Colchester United seriously fuckin' rate. Top footy, believe me.
  • If you're looking for a lot of dentist, with a little pain, see Nick the Dent, on The Avenue...(or was it Lane!!??) You never know which stars from the United States you'll see there next, as he's become a celebrity here.
  • As a student I would like to mention that there really is very little to do in Colchester, and as for not recognizing squaddies - BULLSHIT! Student I might be but, I also happened to grow up in army married quarters in Colchester garrison.
  • I think there is plenty to do in Colchester. If you're into the activity sort of thing, then there is Rollerworld, Quazar, a swimming pool with all the waves and whirlpools etc, cinema, theatre, a huge park in Highwoods, and another park in the town with a castle to visit, more pubs and eating places than I can mention.
  • FIRE BRIGADE. Colchester Fire Station is 60 years old this year. SAD BAST... fact, however the fact that we are on strike for the second year running to protect OUR/YOUR service from the politicians aint no bad thing. Messages of support to Colchester Fire Station, Cowdray Avenue , Colchester. or e-m me Bdevb@aol.com THANKS
