  • Royal Oak Earlsdon
  • City Arms Beefeater in Earlsdon Street. Great beer, good crowd. Gorgeous girls behind the bar Amanda, Carolyn, Rachael and the two Louises. Look out for the miserable git who sits in the far corner and Brenda, mutton dressed as er, well, mutton!
  • Royal Oak in Earlsdon is not bad, although not as good as it used to be, Try to avoid the 'Pub Character' John, looks like the dwarf off Fantasy Island, usually pissed up and talking bollocks Craven Street in Chapelfields excellent pub run
  • we got varsity, llyods, yates n shit like that, but agen if ur from outside and make urself know, u'll get ur head kicked in.
  • the AARDVARK is cool and has good music and is where a lot of students drink and is really cheap but is strict with ID. the CAMPBELL is similar and nice too. SUZY Q is a bit trashy and the some of the staff are rude but is also a really cheap night out
  • Brewer n Baker. brilliant pool table
  • varsity on a wednesday night used to bet the placed to go for many freshfaced chavs but now newts has taken that role! best place for a good drink and a game of pool has to be the Aardvark in earlson just by the butts!love it!

  • The pubs are all right in general but the music really sucks. We live in 2004 and we cant hear this cheesy forgotten music any more!!!!!!
  • varsity probebly the best
  • Megabowl has a great bar, and you can near enough always get on a pool table too. And they ahve a big screen for footy, and music at all other times!!
  • Browns, The Pheonix
  • the ardvark
  • Prob either The Litten Tree or The Bulls Head on Binley Rd
  • Dunno havent been able to get in one yet!
  • The best pub in coventry is undoubtedly browns by the cathedral. Newtz is good as you can play computer games while your eating. The orange house is well kitted out. Varsity, yates, lloylds and flying standard are all worth a visit. Inspires allow you to drink begium ales funnny shape glasses in a church!! Bar 1450 in spon street must be one of the oldest pubs and has a nice evening ambience. Litten tree is decent but the one in rugby is even better. The best but in the coventry poscode area in the mill in baginton near coventy airport. 14th century, mill - very posh. The best balti is Tarmari in spon street it was voted best in coventty and wawickshire and IS by experience. try it
  • DOG AND TRUMPET. GO TO THE RED LION WE WORK THERE!!!!! IN CORLEY MOOR WALL HILL ROAD
  • Why not visit The New Bowler Upper Spon Street on Sunday Nights for a great karaoke with starmaker2000karaoke of Coventry
  • The Beer Engine. Good Rock Pub. Upper Gosford St. Tell them Sam sent you there.
  • The Flanker and Firkin!!!!!
  • the whitefriars is old and traditional. or the silver sword, newtz and the cross for lively atmosphere
  • The Rocket every time. I worked here for 3 years and there used to be a good crowd. Open till 2 thursday, friday and saturday though the beers quite expensive now. 2 pool tables, little dance floor, karaoke on saturdays. Watch out for the landlord Paul. He can be quite err...boisterous after a few beers.
  • Browns. If you are remotely cultured and interesting and would rather listen to StGermain than the Cheeky girls, then you'll fit right in. Contemporary, clean, stylish, wicked music, chilled atmosphere, and NO TOWNIES!!
  • Rose and Crown on ball hill rd.
  • the flanker and firkin!gringos or browns!
  • The Skydome is ok but it is overpriced and has a lot of unfriendly staff. And its like sardines in there! LLoyds is good its open l8. Also the Newtz, Tp Woods, litten tree, varsity and the courtyard are all fair priced and fun.
  • The only pub/club worth being seen in, in Cov is Here at the Canal Basin wednessday night hip hopporama, b-boyz 'n' galz cuttin' some shapes on the tiles!...
  • Brown's, The Varsity and the Colin Campbell (as if they changed the name).
  • ive gotta say the holyhead (I mean before it became an eating place) was brilliant and i miss it so much! All of us used to meet in there on thursdays for "quids in"!! I dont think anyone realised how much they loved that place...until they took it away!
  • some of the best pubs in the city are at the skydome but we also have some quite good pubs at the top end of town by the statue yates is quite good great music
  • pubs and the places people drink is always changing, especially with the skydome which is now very samie!! but there are always the good old favories like The Tudor Rose where the atmosphere is good and the bar staff are great!!
  • HOlyhead used 2 b ace on a sunday night when girls used to drink 4 free !!!
  • Gringos
  • Lloyds, weatherspoons are cheap and cheerful. the campbell is a good place to go before the colleseum but if you dont have a yellow card its very expensive.
  • cambell for good food, drink, music and atmosphere!
  • We don't swallow liquid.
  • THE BULLS HEAD IS MY LOCAL SO MY FAVE THE GOOD ONES IN TOWN ARE LOYDS VARSITY THE BLACK EAGLE AND THE SHAKHSPEARE
  • THE THREE TUNS , THE DOG AND TRUMPET , PLATFORM 5.
  • The Oak in Earlsdon - no music, great beer (the bloke who owns this pub has just bought the Earlsdon Cottage and promises to put on some live bands- none of your piped poo).
  • Not enought pubs with gardens! The Oak has an outside area which is always good, Whitefriars has a garden but not big enough. Need more places to chill outside in the centre.
  • The Four Provinces in Earlsdon is a top pub... serving the best guinness this side of the Blarney Stone, and a random assortment of guest beers. Watch out for Kieran (the landlord) and his drum (don't ask) and make sure you stand for the Irish national anthem at closing time.
  • THE DIVE (also known as Graduates to you younger folk) Now this place may have a reputaion and God knows why. If you went down there on a Saturday night in a pair of bermuda shorts and open toe sandals and asked a nice chap with a skin head and more earings than fingers and toes for a game of pool I'm sure you would get nothing but free drinks and smiles all the way. Pool table is always broken, if you put your 50p in it will more often than not spit it back out the bottom of the table and give you a free game of pool. Middle of the day is the best time cos knowone's in there but students who haven't got anything better to do. I'll miss you DIVE.
  • Do Not go to the Colin Campbell as it has fallen from grace as the premier Alt rock/ Indie venue under its new management Indie kids are no longer welcome I recomend the Golden Cross by the Cathedral, the beers better as well ;)
  • Cov has an usually large number of pubs and bars. Quality ones in the city centre are: Varsity, LLoyds, Weatherspoons, Bar Coast/Lanes, The Campbell(Scream), Metz Bar, Yates, Old Orleans, Chicago Rock Cafe, and the list goes on....
  • the dog and trumpet
  • The BARRAS HOUSE HOTEL (BALSHI) on the SWANCROFT RD.Also does GOOD Meals starting from 2.99 and KIDS are allowed in !! TRY IT OUT !!!
  • Flanker & Firkin (but they do age check, so they definately haven't served any minors......
  • The pub life in Coventry is varied. Whitefriar's Alehouse in a 700 year old building is a must for real ale fans, as is the windmill. The bar in the Spire "Inspire" is worth a visit for its location alone. There are the chains: Litten Tree, Chicago Rock Cafe, etc and plenty of smaller pubs. Chapelfields -- the old watchmakers area -- has a whole slew of small, friendly pubs and is a unique area, while Earlsdon High Street has a lively night life centred around restaurants and pubs. There's something for everyone in this respect, and it is much better than 10 years ago.
  • Must visit the new (but very old) Whitefriars next to the Oak Inn on Gosford Street. Really old restoed building with its own well (can't use the water for the beer as its polluted - like a lot of things in Cov').
  • Lloyds, the varsity and Gringoes are the best pubs to go to do Loyds and the varsity first then do gringoes as you will be sufficently drunk enough to appreciate its really cheep the drinks (£1) but won't notice the really bad decore. One last thing whats all this about Till hill south and Mount Nod being snobby, the only decent areas to live in Coventry are Styvechale and parts of Earlsdon!
  • vale
  • The Royal Oak, Albany and Cottage in Earlsdon.
  • Gringos.. it caters for all your needs :)
  • HERES MY LIST: THE BIGGIN, THE STANDARD, YATES, THE BULLS Head(binley rd), NEWT AN CUCUMBER,The Jag, the dof and trumpet is shite full of ugly and dirty goths
  • Browns (if you don't mind paying nearly three quid for a pint of Becks), the Oak, Gringo's, the Campbell. There's also a place out near Warwick - the Saxon Mill
  • The bouncers in Browns have a serious attitude problem- they are very very selective especially at the weekend so be warned
  • Beer Engine, Blacksmiths Arms, The Campbell, Cedars, City Arms, Fiber McGees(Irish), Careys, Graduates, The Jaguar, Hertford Arms, Hand & Heart, The Varsity, Yates's, Newt & Cucumber, The Oak, Crown, Griffin, Peacock, Rainbows and Suzy Q's are the only ones I go in on a Friday Afternoon.
  • The only place to drink in Coventry, in fact the only place which made living there marginally bearable (before managed to get out) is Spon Street. Basically they took the few nice Medieval remnants of Coventry that Hermann Goering and the '50s developers didn't manage to screw up and stuffed them up the one alley. Try the Rising Sun and Windmill for starters. Failing that, leave Spon Street via the presumably unsafe underpass at the end and cross to Earlsdon...ask directions to the Earlsdon Cottage where you'll hear great live music. Then you've done Coventry, you need never go back.
  • Real ales, friendly staff, good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Its all there at the Hare and Hounds, Keresley. A traditional pub in the country where everyone can have a really good time.
  • Hmmmmmmmmm - How to put this without sounding like a stuck up ex-pat Londoner patronising the yokels. Cant do it - here goes! Coventry is the kind oif place where people breed within their own families - they are born here, they grow up here, they get girls pregnant at fifteen, get married at sixteen, get a job in a warehouse / factory / scrapyard just after the wedding. They have another Kid at eighteen, get divorced at 19 then go to the pubs to fight someone, anyone, because none of what happened is their own fault, its all down to that malaysioan student over there who has only been in the country five minutes! My point is, the natives are surly and unwelcoming, and tend to Cluster. Their are a few places where "Aliens" can freely congregate - The Varsity is nice but over priced. Browns is nice, but lacks the atmosphere it used to have. Yates's, Weatherspoons etc all ok. The Chestnut Tree in Chapelfields is by far the best of an otherwise bad bunch, and starts the famouis "Craven Street Run" - about seven pubs all on the same road which - mercifully - runs downhill, almost all of which will offer a lock in on a Friday night. The Lighthouse is very out of the way, but does have some excellent nights, with Top DJ's playing there on a Sunday night.
  • Don't ever venture into the City Arms, in Earlsdon, after 7.00 pm.... rugger buggers and brain-dead girlies jostle with the true Coventry dead-drunk society.... don't go there.
  • Browns yet again. And the Campbell. £1 pint on Wednesdays
  • The JAG is just the best with some very nice bar men heheheehe
  • The Fowl and Firkin
  • The OLD WINDMILL, medieval pub in Medieval Spon Street, good food lunchtimes (inc.vegetarian), seven beers plus two guests, Sunday evening Quiz (win beer!). Good jukebox, good atmosphere (but something's changed?)
  • The list is long and sometime strange - Burnt Post on the Kenpas Highway, Styechale Arms - same road, Cottage in Earlsdon. In town The Varsity, Newt & Cucumber and Bar Coast (at night) All quality places - don't do Yates' always full of old folk (over 30s) trying to pull - not quality. Browns is OK if you get passed the bouncers.
  • The Nursery Tavern. Lord St Coventry. 674530 The BEST real ale pub with regular and good beer festivals. NO JUKE BOXES and the best food.
  • The Festival - A45 Just off Fenside Avenue, Styvechale Nursery Tavern - Earlsdon Royal Oak, Earlsdon High street Fibber Mcgees, City center opposite motor museum
  • The Albany, The Courtyard, The Cross.
  • Cool bars: Browns (Lower Precinct) and Cafe Sloane (opp. BR Station).
  • Good pubs: The Old Windmill (Tudor pub, gorgeous; Spon Street), The Oak Inn (opp. Coventy School of Art and Design) and The Campbell (student pub, next to The Oak).
  • Other good pubs in Spon End and Earlsdon: The Malt Shovel, The Royal Oak, The Old Clarence, The Black Horse.
  • Some of the pubs mentioned here are mainly student places - but I guess it's mostly students who use the net - I'm not a student and here's how I see it. The Jaguar in Corporation Street is a pretty good pub with big age range of between about 18 and 30 on average - in my view it's the best pub in town. Apart from that most of the night clubs are shit with obnoxious doormen - someone else mentioned that Fatty Arbuckles has a 'good door policy' - well put it this way - you will NEVER get into this place if you are a man who wears an ear ring, wear any kind of boot instead of flat shoes, have any visible tatoos or long hair - these people are real bastards ! Mr G's is full of 16 or 17 year olds and more like a youth club than a nightclub The Irish Center 2000 is half decent but it's always about 100 degrees farenheight in there - the doormen here are really quite friendly. Careys Club is OK - but the musics a bit naff - and the doormen are arrogant bastards. The rest of the clubs are student type places which I don't really go to - except one - Scholars in Gosford Street - this place is good and opens until late on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Rainbows. Relatively recent but much welcomed addition to the otherwise pretty moribund local gay scene. Nicely furnished inside with a courtyard at the back for when the weather's nice and a small dance club upstairs.
  • Browns, New Varsity, Golden Cross, Courtyard,New & cucumber, Yates wine lodge, Cov cross all fairly decent places to drink, depending on your taste of course!
  • The Rocket proved to be be very useful after collecting g.c.s.e and a-level results from my school King Henrys as you could reach the door after fainting in the playground!
  • THE GOLDEN CROSS HAS JUST HAD A HORRID REFIT, THE CAMPBELL IS GREAT, THE VARSITY IS NICE IN THE DAY, THE GODIVA WOULD BE NICE IF IT WASNT FOR THE DRUNKARDS....
  • . You should know that for all serious beer drinkers, and I mean real ale not fizzy coloured lemonade otherwise known as lager, the Nursary in Earlsdon has always good beers on draft. Harry the landlord knows his trade and enjoys it, (look at his serious beer belly to prove). Anyway, this place is one of the few reasons I come back......sad eh? Not at all, After 5 pints of Witches Tit, it is more than justified.
  • Too many to mention. The best include Yates, The Felix Holt, The Pen and Wig and The Fox out in Attleborough Some of the best pints can be found out in the village pubs if you have the time to go searching for them. Best village pub for beer is The Cottage out in Fillongly. Best village pub for Food is The Manor, also out in Fillongly. The Saracens Head also do some wicked guest ales, this pub is also in Fillongly.
  • Avoid the Flanker & Firkin, which claims to be a student pub, but whose management object to having students getting drunk in it. (The Fowl & Firkin is okay though.)
  • The Old Windmill in Spon street has lots of real ales and is lovely and oldie worldie as it was one of the few places to escape the Luftwaffe The Oak in Earlsdon High street is very popular and if you are lucky enough to actually secure a seat the is table service at no extra cost.
  • The Oak in Earlsdon. No music, no fruit machines, no nothing but Very good beer and service. Only draw back _ if you're not in by 8.00 you struggle to sit, after 9.00, struggle to get in.
  • Ma Browns The Rainbow (Allesley)
  • The White Lion at Brownshill Green used to be very good, but now it has been ripped apart by those bastards at Bass Taverns and its been changed into a so-called Fork and Pitcher food pub. This seemed to be the way in which they could also justify the beer price sto be increased by 50 p a pint.
  • The Royal Oak in Earlsdon High St. Very busy, but uniquely has TABLE SERVICE!!! You can stay put in your corner all night and someone else keeps bringing you the drinks. Very nice.
  • The Campbell, the Cross, and the Dog and Trumpet
