• Most of Crawley is populated by working class people who were kicked out of Battersea counciol slums 20, 30 or 40 years ago. They were arseholes in there previous incarnation and there offspring are often among the worse human beings I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I would recommend anyone coming here to turn around and get out as quick as possible.The council are very keen on empty office blocks and modern houses.

From what I gather, Horsham is prettier visually, but Crawley has more to offer young people in terms of entertainment.

I know a few young single mums who say they feel isolated and because they can't go out alone at night, they can't make friends (apart from other single mums at toddlers' clubs). It's about time Crawley had somewhere that catered for these needs, even if it meant having a social club in the afternoons or early evenings. I'm sure there are single dads too, who would love a club like this where they could meet some decent, non-drinking, non-clubbing people in similar situations.

• I have to commute 15 miles to work in Crawley every day. Sometimes it takes me over ONE HOUR!!! The place is just industrial sprawl, and some people reckon it was built specifically as an extemsion of Croydon; a place to get rid of the drop-outs.... A complete dump, with a grotty main shopping centre, awful pubs, horrid tacky people, lousy traffic jams, and the most expensive parking I've ever seen. More than £1.00 at most places, even on a Sunday!! The place should be razed to the ground and replaced with a decent town. Have a nice day.......

• I dont live in Crawley but have visited a few times and i must say i dont think i will ever return. The shops are cheap, busy and they just look like jumble sales. But what can you expect when all the people there are screaming at their children or have so much attitude they think they could take on the world, i think i will stick to brighton its classy, designer shops, plus the people are classy o.k so you might bump into a couple of tramps but they have less attitude. So if anyone is thinking of going to Crawley shopping DONT come to brighton.

• Crawley is'nt a bad place I have lived here all my life, and the reason we do have a bit more trouble than the surrounding towns, is because there is nothing to do there! So they have to come to Crawley where there is plenty to do and cause trouble which gives Crawley a bad name. The dispicable lack of respect for elderly people (some of whom have been attacked violently by the youngsters), the crappy way that nearly EVERY pub has bouncers now, the sad fact that Christmas is seemingly a non event in the town anymore, the fact that our churches have to be locked up because of the scum that vandalise them, the waste of money (sculpture) on the Hawth roundabout, the hospital being FORCED BY LITTLE MISS MOFFATT, the Labour backstabbing career-hungry Blair-babe, to shut down bit by bit. The IDIOTS who voted her back in AGAIN (It's YOUR FAULT the hospital is going!)At Prime Minister's Questions 1 month ago, she stood up and said to Mr Blair, "will he join me in congratulating Labours efforts in securing and sorting out Crawley's hospital problems!!!" Maidenbower, possibly the worst nieghbourhood in design and paper thin modern houses, it is full of wannabie yuppies who think it is posh to live there and the slag off the rest of the town. • Too many refugees etc because it's so near Gatwick, there our people who need help more yet they are ignored.

The Council have decided to put the cost of using Age Concern premises from £141 to £21,500. Yes you have read correctly TWENTY ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS.

Many of the resisdents in these 'horrible' areas are uneducated, poor, live off the state, have no goals or objectives. When will the coucil learn that 'big' estates dont work? Bewbush and Broadfield have shown us that large housing estates promote violence and crime in general, probably becausethere are many youths all crammed in one area together who influence one another, get bored and therefore occupy themselves setting light to cars, fighting and more frequntly shooting at property and individuals. How long will it be until Maidenbower follows the trends of Bewbush and Broadfield. Youths find themselves getting bored and stay put on large estates ,there are many other youths to hang around with, eventually leading to bordness they turn to crime.
• Competitive drivers. High cost of living, high cost of housing, people selling their ex-council slums for in excess of £100,000. Crawley locals are not friendly at all. you will see the towns adult population in blockbuster video on a friday and saturday night cos they are so mortgaged up they cant afford to do anything else
• The people who say they like in broad oak or cottesmore green or tollgate hill and the latest one LOWER PEASE POTTAGE for crying out loud just admit it you live on BROADFIELD

The contributor who claims Crawley Council thinks that spending 10 000 pounds on the Christmas Lights asked for by the people of Crawley is "better than looking after the town's elderly!" is making such a sick joke that his ignorance is not even funny. Crawley council spends more on facilities for the Senior Citizens of this town than for any other comparably sized group. They are less than 10 percent of the population, yet some 20 percent of Council Tax payers money goes on facilities for the elderly. Where else in the South East can OAP's travel free of charge on the buses ? Nowhere! Where else do they get free use of certain leisure facilities ? Where else do they get half-priced entry to the rest ? Where else did a council provide a purpose-built centre for Age Concern then forgo nearly a quarter of a million pounds in potential rent over ten years? Nowhere in Sussex at least!
