Pubs in Darlington, Durham*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Darlington.

Pubs
  • The Quaker Bar on Mechanics Yard is a great bar, real ale for the CAMERA fans and lots of rock, including live music every Wednesday and sometimes other nights of the week.
  • The Quaker bar on Mechanics Yard in the centre of Darlington is the best for real ale and live music. An excellent friendly crowd and there is always something going on there.
  • For an alternative night out, closest thing you will get is a Friday and Saturday night in Bacchaus. Other nights try Tap and Spile, and Turks Head (opens late), then Rileys.
  • The Quaker House on Mechanics Yard is a great pub, winner of the CAMERA pub of the year 2006, and several years previousley
  • Shoulder of Mutton, Middleton tyas
  • The Turk's Head - Not as good as it once was, but still probably the best in town. In winter, call shotgun on the leather couches at the back, and in summer relax in the beer garden (which is heated when it gets chilly at night). Occasionally there are gigs held there and open mic night is normally good. Avoid the karaoke on thursdays though. Last orders at midnight on thurs, fri and sat! Tap and Spile - Right opposite the Turk's. Normally full of dodgy middle aged builder types, but there's a good pool table and nice range of beers. Upstairs serves as a cosy little music venue. Pennywieght - Bit plain and boring, but there are good drink offers and the quiz on tuesdays at 9pm is great fun. No.22's - the manager won't serve men with long hair and hates lager drinkers but it's hands down the best place to go for real ale, and there is some nice decor. Always full of old fogeys, hence it's nickname 'Jurassic Park'. The Tanner's Hall - Very cheap, but leave before about 8pm when it gets busy (the Turk's is conveniently situated just round the corner...)
  • yates flares humphreys best bars route 66 for a laugh! full of squaddies n slappers always funny to laugh at! music good
  • THE OTTER AND FISH in HURWORTH, best food best pints and the most attracktive barmaids. no kids, spot on.

  • The Model-T what a stench of a pub
  • Avoid route 66 this is the only place in town which actually allows squaddies in, the place is heaving with them, they seem to enjoy pulling the ugliest mingers here most of which are over weight tumble tots.

  • Check around as plenty offer 2 for the price of one
  • turks head is the real student hang out. b
  • The tanners Hall is a wetherspoons so of cause is by far the cheapest but does get really really busy! The Turks Head is the best pub in darlo and does not attract any moochers, choras, charvas or townees so if u r 1 dont even bother coz i will personally boot you out-U ARE NOT WELCOME!!!! but it is mint, cultured and an alround delight. flares has just opened and gets really busy but is a fun night out.
  • 2k on a thursday night pay £10 pound in and drink as much as you want. no dress code.
  • The shuttle and Loom. you may miss it half of the name has been torn down......(look for the Shuttle and Loo)
  • turks head,oneils
  • " THE OLD YARD TAPAS BAR " VISIT OUR SITE WWW.TAPASBAR.CO.UK REAL ALE IS OUR SPECIALITY VOTED NO 2 IN DARLINGTON
  • IMPERIAL EXPRESS
  • Basically you're best nights out if you're 18+ are when the students come back for the holidays. To the best of my knowledge it's dead throughout the week then Thursdays: Plastered Parrot, Mr Bojangles Friday : Dead go somewhere else Saturday : Got to go to Route 66 trebles £1 all the rest of the pubs are pretty similarly busy. the 'old man' pubs are generally accepted to be: Tap and Spile, Berties, The Green Dragon, The Old Dun Cow, The Nags Head, The Pennyweight, The Hole in The Wall, The Golden Cock, The Bridge, The Turk's Head, The Red Lion, O'Neills, No 22's, Hogans and literally dozens more.
  • Best pint in the town? The Slater's Arms, Bondgate - but get in quickly because the management's about to change.
  • Top bar is Humphreys for a pint of Guinness. Good bar - Perrys (it has a 2am licence!)
  • Humphrey's (expensive, but they do serve a good pint of guinness, ie they wait half way through.)
  • Yate's is nice during the winter, with plenty of radiators to take the chill off things, excellent for Stella and Murphys. Friendly barstaff.
  • Twenty-two's serve a huge range of real beers. Also, quite tasty and worth a try is Hoegaarden, a nice Belgian Wheatbeer, it looks very cloudy, but has an interesting taste.
  • New to Darlington. Why not try The Plastered Parrot and Mr Beaujangles?
  • The Black Swan... rough pub which Hartlepool United fans fought in last year. Good pint though.
  • Victoria Social Club, situated in Victoria Road, great position for having a quick pint before going to watch Darlo at Feethams. Reknowned for an excellant cheap pint and friendly atmosphere. Entertainment every Saturday night. Guests more than welcome.
  • Too many to mention, but I like the Pennywheight.
  • Turks Head - only real pub just about left
  • The Arts Centre on Vane Terrace is excellent. V. cheap beer, quiet, nice sofas and special nights for gays and transvestites (but also the best place to go if you just want a good chat with your mates with no hassles). AND they have ats galleries, coffee shop, practise rooms, cinema and theatre
  • Perrys is the place from about 10.30 pm 'til 2 am
