  • Where to start? First of all, Dartmouth gets flown over by military jets all the time on nice days. So if you have come here for some peace and quiet, forget it. The Regatta is just appalling. If you live in Dartmouth you can barely leave your house for the duration... The streets are too busy to even walk on and many locals park their cars for the whole thing and do not move them because parking is so difficult. In fact, parking is a nightmare all summer. The ferries are great when you want to cross the river EXCEPT in the summer (April - September) when you have to queue up with a billion tourists. Getting around this whole area becomes so much more difficult in the summer. Really, a journey that takes ten minutes in November can take up to two hours in July. Also - the people who live here really are small minded. The population is basically made up of 1) military people 2) the weekend sailing set 3) tourists and 4) shopkeepers. All the 'normal' people are stuck in the out-of-town ghetto known as Townstall. There is NO multiculturalism in Dartmouth. It actually makes me feel sick when I think about how small-minded and insular this place is. If you are black/Asian/interesting/young/human DO NOT COME HERE (unless it's en masse to burn the place to the ground). Try Totnes instead, which has a great alternative scene (altho a bit wishy-washy).
  • Isolated without your own transport
  • The winter when half the shops close down.
  • too many people with overated opinions on shit give the kids a break they have to have somewhere to go at night
  • seagull shit
