- I am the son of an ex resident who was born and lived for awhile at 31 High Street,Daventry and had a grocery which(after his death) was managed by Bernard until after WW11.My Dad moved to Bedford where he
worked with an engineering works. He became the head of the electrical department and was given the OBE for his services to the his trade. He died when he was 73. He had two sons, Norman and Peter who served with H M Services during WW11. Both were demobilised with the rank of Major. Tomīs widow died in 1985 and Norman in November 2000. Peter worked on a banana plantation in Central America and in 1963 entered the Consular Service. On retirement I was given the MBE for services to the Crown. I am now retired and remained in Panama. I have fond memories of visits to Daventry for family gatherings.In those days the place of interest was the wireless station which was a short drive from the town.
