- Charles Hawtrey (spelling?), the camp one from the carry-on films, lived in Middle street. (Until recently, that is. He died) Queen mum has a place (Walmer Castle) up the road, which is the residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, which she is. She comes to town in the summer.
