Cringing Cult of Celebrity
- Admiral Earl Beattie used to live in Dingley Hall. He was in command of the Royal Navy at the battle of Jutland in WW1. Famous for saying as German torpedoes kept sinking the pride of our navy, "There's something wrong with our bloody ships" There was; holes in the bottom, like the rest of us. He reposes in St Paul's Cathedral but his Countess lies here in Dingley churchyard. I wonder if they wish they were together?
- Well obviously apart from me, the MP Rodger Freeman used to live here!! Now thats impressive!
