You can tell us more about Doncaster.

Pubs
  • Yes there are a lot, and like the rest of the place its stuck in time..
  • Check out The White Hart in Wadworth. Excellent food and friendly bar staff.
  • rubbish & violent
  • Three Horseshoes on old North Bridge is now a Freehouse and has increased both the draught beers/lagers and ciders and Cask ale offering. At the same time as the selection increased the prices have decreased!!
  • CORNER PIN ST SEPHULCHRE GATE WEST, the home of the Donny Bull ( Wrestling Star and kicking new young Landlord) Unfortunatley doesnt sell Glentworth but does always have four excellent cask ales, Camra Pub of the season summer 2006, still well worth a visit!!!
  • Three Horseshoes on old North Bridge, still a much loved traditional pub, but far far cleaner than it used to be!!
  • Go and see Little baby Cheeses at the Eagle and Child, Conisbrough on 8th of November 2006
  • yeah the gipos normally start at 10, not age but AM GMT
  • An up to date events guide of what is happening in Doncaster Branch of CAMRA The Campaign for Real Ale.
  • oh, yes. right. the "fresh faced" go to the tut 'n' shive for their underage drinking
  • Tues- date nights at the candy shop aka walkabout. No longer the premise of sweaties! Guaranteed fumble
  • A great Bar & Restaurant for real food, real chips and real ale.
  • courtyard
  • The Lounge I've heard is a cool place... If the weather is nice, the Boat Inn in Sprotbrough can be really pleasant to chill out in...
  • The Lounge I've heard is a cool place... If the weather is nice, the Boat Inn in Sprotbrough can be really pleasant to chill out in...
  • Hallcross pub is an excellent place for good night out, eccentric's and music.
  • The White Bear and Cactus Jacks are great.
  • the best pubs in donni are all at harworth. the stute, the blacksmiths, gamecock, pavilion, Q's and the brindale
  • Tut & Shive, just don't eat the food... i should know, i worked there!
  • visage has shut down, warehouse ant shutting down at all, best pub to go to is brown sword (bottom of silver street).
  • Cheswolds near Doncaster Dome is okay! Pub quizzes are on a Tuesday and Thursday!
  • Just an update on "The Cross" or The Hallcross for any new comers . The Rock is back thanks to two original punters Gary & Michelle , who , after roughly 18mnths hard graft have got the old pub back to where it should be , rocking to the rafters every weekend with fine beer ( althou`it ain`t stocks`) top rock and blues bands, both cover and original material, every Friday `n` Saturday night. Lots of the old faces are back there too and obviously fresh ones aswell check it out I can`t wait for the weekends anymore
  • Doncaster ONLY has pubs, nothing else.
  • white bear rocks, - its mint!
  • The Goose! I love it to bits, as it is quiet and well furnished!
  • white bear's ok i guess
  • Everyone would get lucky on a Saturday night. Everyone comes out!!! Be aware young, single women alot of creepy old men hanging about. Never walk alone and be aware!!!!
  • Tut 'n' Shive
  • Some of the info in this section is way out of date, most of the pubs have had a lick of paint at least once since the earlier comments. In particular there's good and bad comments on the Black Bull, maybe a few years ago it was rough. Then it was 'done up' and had changed hands a couple of times, now it's one of the quiet spots. But, I've learned in the past that these pages are not udpated by any one person, it's visitor comments that count and I've just added mine. Yes, I dared to visit after reading about it here! Magdalens seem to get a young crowd, even the DJ was wearing nappies. Yates had a new glass front installed, and the place had only been there a few months, changed the signs too to try and disguise the fact it's the same place inside. Number 15, new pub on High Street, long and thin and difficult to get in. Well, on a weekend. If there's a doorman he has to move two doors down to let people past it's such a small place. What happened to the Woolpack? Used to be a real busy pub, bottle bar out back and all that, now it's been converted to a barn inside. Red Lion, waste of space - so big inside for the handful of customers that bother to go there. Queens, loud and distorted music, and a few queens when I last went in.
  • tut'n'shive, hogshead
  • The Corner Pin no longer sells the excellent locally brewed Glentworth beers. These are however now available at the nearby Leopard- an excellent pub with live music and comedy gigs upstairs
  • There are sooo many, you don't have to stumble very far!!!
  • Since the Black Bull changed hands last year it's improved no end - a cracking DJ every Friday and Saturday who seems to be way ahead of 'the crowd' by playing the new tunes FIRST. We heard songs there weeks before the rest of town were playing 'em. Cheap beer on offer but not after 7pm Fri/Sat.
  • The White Bear on a Monday, two for one until 9pm and then the karaoke starts - by far the best one in town, all the rest are tossers who don't appreciate a good singer, as my mate Trish will testify!
  • Nelsons is a superb pub to meet up.
  • Paris Gate has, at times, been frequented by baby-faced gentlemen.
  • Berlins on Wednesday- 30p a shot. Coach and Horses 60p a shot 7 days a week. lovely!
  • huxters, edwards - classy but u get some young people in there & lots of TOWNIES (somethin that donny is renowned 4) i like my local- the forresters - but its a bit rough
  • T'Red Lion is best place in Donny for fighting.
  • Owens at the top of hallgate is a new pub in town also The Hoggs head..
  • The Corner Pin on St.Sepulchre Gate West (near the Leopard)is well worth a visit -it's the only outlet for the excellent locally brewed Glentworth beers (at a very reasonable £1.40 a pint). An excellent traditional local.
  • THE PARIS GATE. That place rocks ass! We all meet in there. And chris can normally be seen with apint in his hand and a fagin his gob. Sat in "His" corner.
  • Major update: The Hallcross is now more of a wine bar - Stocks' brewery sold off all their pubs. The Castle has changed hands and is currently under refurbishment - the place now seems empty without the previous landlord's wrestling memorabilia and his huge whisky collection. The place to get together now seems to be the Tut n' Shive on West Laith Gate. Having said that, the town centre seems to be dead - the lack of public transport after about 8pm has killed the place even at weekends.
  • Yates and for ridiculosly cheap shots - The Coach and Horses, only 60p a shot.
  • Upstairs in the 'White Bear' for sporting fans. Downstairs on a Friday if you like rubbing up against scantily-clad females (beware of getting coated in make-up).
  • My favourite pub crawl on a Friday night: Tut'n'Shive, Nags Head, Yates, Red Lion, George, Gallery, White Bear, Edwards, AD43 or Scruffy Murphys, and Eden, in any order, then go to Karisma for the Minky (be there before 10.45 or queue forever) Avoid the market place if you want to stay alive, especially the Black Bull. You'll either be offered a fight or be molested by the local moggies. For a real challenge. Try the Balby run into Doncaster, a pint in each of 26 pubs if you can survive. Outside Doncaster, try Edenthorpe, Sprotborough, Bessacarr, Mexborough/Swinton for a good weeknight out.
  • Do not try to find the Hallcross now. It's been sold and renovated and reopened as "Dr. Browns". Yep, the name itself makes me want to weep! Farewell, Stocks beers I will miss you. Best pub in town - Masons, (Market Place- best Tetleys in the World!).
  • The Castle, on the Market Place is the official young person's hangout. That and the Masons are really the only safe pubs in the Market Place.
  • The Hallcross at top of Hallgate is the rock pub in town. My most recent visits have seen its walls yellow and peel nicely and its carpet get stickier and stickier.
  • The White Swan on Frenchgate is the official starting point for a pub crawl if you live on the north side of town. Stay there for more than an hour on a weekend night and watch a tide of overdressed, scent soaked humanity flow past you.
  • The Tut & Shive has had many names in the past, and its most recent role saw a rare case of reverse refurbishment into a 'rough' Whitbread real ale house. Very student-y crowd for a town that doesn't have a university.
  • The newer pubs such as Edwards, Scruffy Murphy's, AD43 and Yates are good pubs to go in but are generally like all the others by the same name. Eden (formerly Camelots) generally gives a good night out, but tends to be a little pricey. You can't beat the Coach and Horses for a good piss up, that is if you don't mind the crush, and the fact that it hasn't been decorated in the last 100years, It's cheap booze (50p a shot all night) so what else matters?
  • Defoe noted the pubs 250 years ago, and there is probably no town centre in Britian can match them for number or quality, particularly the market place pubs such as the Old George, Woolpack, and the Masons Arms.
  • The Sun Inn in Scawsby (on the outskirts of Doncaster) is a really nice pub. It has a games room and all the usual rubbish. I go there with my friends, as it is a good pub to have lengthy discussions in.
