Pubs
- The Old Ship
high west street
dorchester
dorset
- Best pub by far is The Blue Raddle.
- A LOAD OF PANTS!
- The station is a good place to eat and drink, busy on most nites, mainly sat tho. Junction not as good as it used to be since they refurbished it, Spoons is a winner for cheap beer but no music or entertainment. For watching sport, Station is ur best bet.
- Tom Browns at the bottom of town is what a real pub should be! Wooden floorboards, punters from all walks of life and they brew their own superb beer on the premises! The Flashmans is only 190p and you won't find better in the town. Cracking pub!
- Station isn't bad, but expensive, nip down to Weymouth instead. What you will pay extra over the night for your beer will cover the cost of a taxi to Weymouth.
- Loads of pubs. To name a few, The Station, The Junction, The George...etc.
- Apparently the one next to the train station is a big lesbian hang-out, now thats interesting.
- The BEST pub in the whole of dorchester has to be the whetherspoons. The drinks are the cheapest in town, it's not crowded with too much youth, it's a gorgeous place, the service is very good and the toilets are the best toilets ever...they even have sofas in there!I go there and my parents go there. It's an all rounder.

- the junction trinity club (club) loads
- Weatherspoons in the High Street - great beers, great prices!
- The Kings! The Kings Arms is THE pub! It has eclectic musical taste, a big projector TV, fit barstaff both female and male. (So i'm told. Repeatedly.) and the most random prices for drinks. Why 2.23 for a pint?
- the george is the way forward spit and sawdust all the way!
- If you like football and garage and wear a shirt then the junction is the pub for you, but if u puff the 'erb and like Jungle then go to the George which is just round the corner.
- We now have Wetherspoons! Cheap beer and always very busy. The Junction is a must for late night drinking and a disco!!! - always good fun on fri and sat nights!
- Victoria Hotel
Nice place, nice staff, nice everything. Not the most outstanding pub in Dorch' but it's pretty good. Occasional live music, sports bar, Sky etc.
well worth a visit but don't bring the kids as the owners have had a few problems (not their fault).
- The busiest is the Junction. But it's still shit.
- old george, although u might get beaten up!
- Tom Browns in the High Street. During a week staying near Dorchester I found this a friendly pub with the most excellent home brewed beer. Only wish this bevy was sold in my home town! Well worth a visit if you like good real ale.
- The Station Masters - Bit outside of town, so often a good place for a starting point. Full to the brim on Friday and Saturday Nights, When the Blue light flashes its a pound per bottle! Good atmosphere, if a little tacky.
The Junction - Very very popular pub for *young* people, always full though, and it does have some more mature clientele. Excellent for getting drunk enough to go to Libertys!
- The Station (by the station, funnily enough) is groovy, and The Kings Arms is fab in a dark red carpetted posh hotel kind of way. But for my money the Blue Raddle is the best every time. Lots of sexy middle aged men, teachers and open fires. For old hippies only!!
- Sounding v. old now.......The Ship Inn and The Royal Oak, both closed last time I was there
- There are 2 major pubs - Stationmasters - affectionally known as Stacies and The Junction. They are pretty typical pubs with little real character but they do seem to attract a crowd on Fridays and Saturdays (by the way if you're looking for something to do on other nights - forget it - or join a local skittles/Darts/Crib team because bar sports rule round here!)
- Try the Bull's Head in Fordington for a quiet drink & good food. It's the local unofficial HQ of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and is not always quiet!
- Junction and Station Masters are definitely the most popular weekend pubs but tend to be a bit towney (at least on Friday or Saturday nights). If you actually want to be able to have a conversation with someone that doesn't involve the use of a megaphone you might try The King's Arms, or The Royal Oak. The George might also be worth a look in now it's been refurbished.
But watch out, the beer is very expensive (£2.30 for Guinness and Carlsberg Export with virtually everything else above £2.00). On that score I have a mad plan to open a bar in town that only charges £1.40 for a pint (if the hyper-untrendy Trinity Club can afford to do it.....) so watch out rip-off merchant landlords (and certain local breweries). The Trumpet Major however, does do some pretty good special offers on drinks on some nights but its right on the edge of town on the Wareham road -- still, if you fancy the trek it's got a good atmosphere (and no, it's not full of really old people).
- The Starting Post was closed down a couple of years ago because of underage drinking. I think it may have been the toddlers in the far corner with the stick-a-bricks and the pints of Flowers that really naffed off the long arm of the law.
- One of the best town's in the county for a decent pub crawl, I know, I did it ! - granted i nearly got arrested walking home but hey thats life !
- Tom Browns (also known as The Goldfinch Brewery) on High East Street. A spit and sawdust place with wonderful homebrew and lots of character. If you're brave enough it's a treat.
- The Cornwall Hotel does a great Balti curry and u can get good food here every night!!
- Noisy (Fridays and saturdays)/ young: Starting Post, Junction, Stationmasters, George.
- Local old boys: Goldies(Borough Arms)
- Sunday afternoons: Kings Arms - old hotel (featured in Mayor of Casterbridge) low beams, quiet atmosphere.
- The Bakers Arms is an extremely quiet pub nowhere near the centre of the town! I should know because I grew up in Dorchester and it was just at the end of our road.
