  • city disc's in temple bar, best best selection of music than any other shop in dublin
  • Sentinel Records. 5 Cope Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 Specialising in Metal but also stock everything from Rock to alternative to punk/hardcore etc. Ticketmaster outlet for all major concerts. www.sentinelrecords.com
  • golden Discs near the Dun Laoighre shopping centre.
  • Georges St. Arcade has a couple of good shops which I can't remember the name of. The stall in the middle of the arcade often has some real 2nd hand gems to be uncovered, and usually belts out top rankin reggae. Road Records in Fade St. is not far away from the arcade, and is friendly as well as having a good selection of indie stuff. Comet in Temple Bar is very hit and miss. Looks like it should be great, but usually.... isn't. City Discs in Temple Bar is much more like it. Good selections, good prices, good 2nd hand selection. Claddagh Records in Temple Bar is good if you like the "Top of the Morning to you, bejasus" fiddley diddley stuff. Abbey Discs in Abbey St. is the place to go for "choons" to "big up yourself" and "roll another phat one". Theres also a really neat place in the basement of a newsagents on the corner of O'Connell St. which I can't remember the name of. It's deadly though. The "Secret Book and Record Shop" on Wicklow St. Excellent Metal and Punk selections. Tower will probably have anything you want, but is WAY overpriced.
  • Rhythm Records
  • All the ususal - VIrgin HMV etc. Check out Dolphin Discs for the best selection of obsure trad and irish music and Temple Bar for second hand/funky record shops etc..
  • Virgin on Aston Quay has closed down.
  • There are loads of cool little dinky record shops in Temple Bar. Don't forget to check out all the side streets.
  • freebird on o'connell bridge, under bus-stop newsagents, ask for john, the decent skiny bloke who'll never flog you a bad tune
  • The best shop for traditional and world music is Claddagh Records, 2 Cecilia St, Temple Bar - they stock more than any of the chains. Another good place in the area is The Irish Film Centre on Eustace Street with bookshop, bar, cafe, and cinemas. Where to meet for a cup of coffee etc... HMV: Grafton Street. Virgin: Aston Quay
  • Virgin Megastore, it has nearly everything you want, Sound Cellar (at the bottom of Grafton street, beside Subway) it does mostly metal but it rules... good for tickets to gigs too.
