The Best Things in Dunfermline, Fife*

If you're around, be sure to check these things out

You can tell us more about Dunfermline.

The Best Things
  • The uneven development of the town mean those living to the West and North don't have far to get into the countryside (I live in the north).
  • You have a fantastic hospital - be proud of it. It is better than many in Scotland with wonderful staff. We didn't want to find ourselves there but an urgent medical condition meant we had to be there. We were really impressed. Perhaps things are not as bad as you think they are!
  • The kids swing park at the bottom of the glenn (eh gillian)
  • Slappers that are 13
  • The Forth Road Bridge to Edinburgh
  • the Glen
  • There is a train to Edinburgh
  • The Glen (Pittencrieff Park). Wan Lam Chinese Takeaway, Baldridgeburn. Subway.

  • Able to walk around and absorb the views of the Bridges. To bump into people that you have chatted to in the passing, now back to water their roots. The great diversity of musical talent, wonders of expression and being able to be a loony, in the Foundry. ( Wicked Pole )
  • Could be :- The Glen, the whole town in fact, if only the locals took some pride and shook of the shackles of the districts mining past and small village attitudes.
  • pubs are getting better, The Glen, Public park, The Abbey
  • Not too long or too hard to get home after a night on the piss!

  • The food at East End Park. Even those who don't support The Pars will find the steak bridies to be the best football food in the land.
  • Dunfermline is a nice and easy night out. You know everyone (that could come under the worst things as well though....) you know the pubs, no surprises, and there's usually no trouble. PLus it's pretty easy too pull :-p

  • Dunfermline Athletics moment of fame: 1968, beat Hearts in the Scottish Cup.
  • Nice town to live in, far enough away from Edinburgh to be individaul, but close enough to shop in and laugh at the people who pay the cost of a Semi in Dunfermlin foe a one bedroom flat in yuppie Edinburgh.
  • The view of the Forth bridge from the brige over the bypass, between the public park and Carnegie Hall. Gorgeous.
  • Cheap, and the social life is funny, but beware of intimidation. It is also ideally situated for Glasgow and Edinburgh.
  • Not far from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
  • Dunfermline Athletic (the PARS) also won the Scottish Cup in 1962 and reached the final in 1965. The also enjoyed European success in the 60's reaching 2 European cup Semi-finals. Two brand new multi-plex cinemas being erected at present.
