Pubs
  • Dunton Bassett arms has a exelent restaurant and take away ,with open fires real ales and a great atmosphere, with the added benefit of having No 7 Bennetts Hill a 3 star AA bed and breakfast attached to it .
  • Hello all you lovely Dunton Bassett people. Purely for your enjoyment we have installed a mega large big screen in the Merry Monk for all the sky sports world cup footie. Show your appreciation for all our efforts by calling in to soak up the atmos! lets face it, there aint much in the Monk at the best of times. This new screen has taken the Monk to new heights! Probably see you in there - Gaynor and Shed (Landlord and Landlady xx)
  • merry monk is full ov wankers
  • The lady at the Dunton Bassett Arms is probably called the mutton lady because the pubs original name was the Shoulder of Mutton. It certainly won't be for any other reason. She a bit of a 'looker' to say the least.
  • "Dunton's Lonely Hearts Club" meet up on a Sunday lunch in the DBA. They don't actually plan to, it just turn's out that way. The members consist of late thirty year olds who have either never had a girlfriend, never will have a girlfriend or claim to have once had a girlfriend, but no-one ever recalls the occasion!
  • The Merry Monk is under new management! it's gotta be worth a try. Having only been in there once when the other bloke was there, I have never been back in twelfty months. I'd like to see the atmos in there now though. Still a senior crowd I believe, but as long as you're local you'll apparrantly get a warm welcome. hazaar!
  • Well the connection the DBA has with mutton is, quite astonishingly, that it used to be called the Shoulder of Mutton during those Creme-de-Menthe-fuelled evenings of yesteryear. So there.
  • Many in this petite, picturesque village live in fear of the Merry Monk because they "don't like young people who aren't from round here" gracing its premises. Just what DOES go on of a wet tuesday evening behind that door? I heard that some people went into this place one friday night and were driven out by the landlord for walzing in and using the building as a Public House. How dare they go into a village pub to have a pint and play darts?
  • The Dunton Bassett Arms. Not a bad place, run by a couple, the woman is mysteriously nicknamed the mutton lady for some reason????? Does Chinese Food.
  • Crown & Thistle. Also not bad, picking up after a variety of recent owners. Sells Stella too. Hopefully it'll keep the locals kids who race around in their Ford Fiestas dreaming of the day when they may actually get served in the crown.
  • The Merry Monk. Pretty boring place, not much known coz no-one ever goes there. Off the A426 on Station Rd.
