Cinemas
- how sad is it that we have to go to wigan, theres plenty of pirate copies knocking about that saves the trip.
- The snooker hall that used to be The Curzon has shut down and was subsequently torched and is now pretty much knackered and is probably a health hazard as the roof was full of asbestos. I heard it was going to be turned into a mosque before the fire (quite possibly someone talking out of their poop schute)
- curzon many a saturday morning matinee!...sob sob
- Nearest one is at Westbrook about 5 miles away.
- THE CURZON,WONDERFUL TIMES
- none, you have to go to Warrington, St Helens or Wigan.
- The cinema info is incorrect. Once there were TWO!!!! The police station, formerly the Rink, formerly the Hippodrome, starring George Formby was the cheap one. The current snooker club was "The Curzon" and much more upmarket. I remember that you did not get sprayed with disinfectant in the latter but that this often happened on Saturday afternoons in the pavilion. This establishment also had a nice old man on the door who used to give out sweeties- but then those were innocent times!
- I believe the Police Station used to be a cinema or theatre or something - because George Formby made his debut there!
- Not any more, closed down years ago, became bingo hall, currently a snooker club
