• Parkside colliery closing, 900 jobs gone, Sankey Sugar, Viaduct works all gone. Market Street pedestrianised precinct extended. New developments, bus station, leisure centre, Safeways, more amenities so you dont have to go out of town.Being took out of Lancashire and put in Merseyside

• Fashion: There is none. The same can be said of taste, and posture. Everyone walks like they have big balls, and are on their way to a fight, (including the girls). Sports gear is the thing. Grubby nylon Kappa jackets, and equally horrible sports pants, bought on the never-never from the catalogue are the fashions here, as is the sign of every moron in the country, the baseball cap. Males and females dress virtually identically, so care must be taken when trying to tap up (if you feel like slumming it).
