• Greens Cafe, 25 Seaside Road - lazy sunday afternoons - acoustic open mic sessions. every Sunday 4-7pm
• Mullins Should be Mullen's, website www.mullenspub.co.uk Namaskar Rooms and Flava no longer exist
• Mullins in Seaside.
• Maxims bar/club/restaurant on South Street is great since the recent management change. It has regular live bands on, & 'Maxim's Idol' talent contest featuring some pretty decent acts. Congress Theatre for a lot of decent 'oldies' like the Hollies etc. St. Mary in the Castle at Hastings (20 miles east) sometimes has the odd musical gem if you're into slightly left of centre stuff (like composer Jocelyn Pook & arty pop band the Divine Comedy) & Indonesian puppetry and stuff. Major acts don't really come here - Brighton is the nearest place for big bands. If you like Big Bands (of the brass & woodwind variety) check out the Eastbourne Bandstand.
• Since Stringbendies opened back up we've been getting quite a few new gigs and venues trying to make a go of it in Eastbourne including some more well known bands from London and other areas. No one place to really find out everything that is going right now but a lot of the gigs do get posted on http://www.eastbournebeer.co.uk
• Word of Mouth presents from Michigan, U.S.A. Southern Records recording artistes CALLIOPE "There's definitely something to be said for spacey pop that gets your head nodding. This Michigan outfit does that, nuzzling contentedly against post-rock and dream-pop, flirting with electronica, showing remarkable restraint and good taste in their dalliances with each. Looping grooves with gently crooned vocals in loose, fluid songs with a hint of noisier, more experimental textures. • blue / la habana / flava / via and under the library are all good venues for music.
• If your looking to go and see an Eastbourne band the nest up and coming band will be HUSH. HUSH is a 5 piece rock group consisting of 3 females and 2 males between the ages 21 and 26. HUSH play all over the country and play regular spots in Eastbourne. Check out their website www.hush.supanet.com.
• Maxims is very good - even during the day, You get a sprinkling of All walks of life. The bar staff are generally pleasant, and the food served is brilliant value. If you go for an 'after the office' drink - beware - 10.00pm says "we're now a club" All the posers turn up in their rented sports cars. But always get there early, or wait at least 30 mins to get in unless you're female and 3 stone.

• Live music suffers here. But check out the freebie listings guide - The Link, and the local paper The Herald (though it's journalism is shambolic). Often talent can be found in local pubs across East Sussex and TJs has live bands on the weekend.
