Skateboarding Spots

• Just found out they're converting top level of Ocean Terminal into a skatepark, bmx track
• On the opposite side of george heriots, near bristo square is a set of buildings under construction, in there is a big open square on a slope with flat benches that start low and end high, it's not very accessible yet (as it's inside a building site) and security might be tight but it looks like it could be good. (i know all this cos' i sit in french class, staring out of the window and dreaming of tailslides and kickflips...
• We used to meet up in the Car park behind WHSmith in the evenings.
• Cumbernauld shopping centre, be brave!!
• Theres a good handrail near focus skateshop, it is black and square you cant miss it
• Sight Hill Skate Park. A few small bits and pieces: Flatbars (1 foot), quarter-pipes (4 feet), driveway (3 feet), and mini-ramp (6 foot). Smooth surface, but on a bit of a hill. Mini ramp is smooth, bit the tranny is all funny. No. 34 or 35 bus to Sight Hill Estate will get you there. Over all: Hmmmmm...
• bristo. loads n loads of ledges big and small. loads of space. stairs ahoy. occasoinally ramps, grinboxs etc. amazin. defonetly best place 2 skate in edinburgh. dynamic earth is good 2.

• Either in hunter sq or up at bristol sq but you sometimes find them at the kids playparks down porty beach
• Everybody knows BRISTO SQUARE!! A nice smooth flat bit with steps round the side ect. no cars and occational wiff of herbs. nice and chilled.
• You can get a nice run, a coupla grinds, and a five-stair on a weekend or during school holidays when the teaching staff n kids are not in skool at Preston Street Primary school, which is also located on the corner of Dalkeith Rd. Good for the grom/novice.
• bristo square ( although a bit obvious ), hopefully the new skate park in the meadows in the next couple of years. viccy park down at trinity is pretty good, but depends which side of town you live on. if you're brave enough check out the park in livvy....
• Bristo square is the best place in Edinburgh for skaters although the people aren't very freindly most of the time

• marble ledge @ the sheraton on lothian road down a hefty flight of steps. new office block on lothian road @ tollcross with steps, handrails, ledges and planters

• Princes street gardens is asome for lying on your stomach and travelling down the curved slopes .i would only have 1 go as the gardener is likely to through you out and take your boards...
• Our dynamic earth is a really smart place to skate,loads of good kerbs too grind and really smooth.if you go down the disabled ramp theres a really cool 6 step at the bottom.land it if you can!
• Fucks sakes, Bristo Square even has an album named after it now.
• Bristo Square: Three sets of accessible steps: a 4 stair, 6 stair & 8 stair. Also, there are ledges running from 3 inches to 1.5 feet high, waxed, and wide enough to manual on. Large flat area with boards put up steps to create a good bank. Bins and walls. Always lit. Also large paved bank at back of nearby library.
• Waverly Market has a huge gap off the roof on to the ground, over stairs, which has been compared to the Gonz Gap at EMB in S.F. Also, sets of stairs, and handrails of all sizes.
• Opposite surf shop in Westport, next to Argyle House: steep and not so steep bank.
• Tranent, near Meadowmill Dry Ski-slope: Transitioned bank with concrete freestyle area and a couple of pipes. Good for boardslides and 180 Ollies. Mostly empty.
• East Princess Street Gardens: Smooth tarmac, couple of banks. Low barrier for boardslides and benches all along.
• Of course, anyone in this area should also check out Livingston Skatepark.
• Meanwhile, here's some info that could please the more deranged skaters out there.
  Some years ago, at a youthful 18, two friends and I took our skateboards onto Arthur's Seat. (If you come to Edinburgh you can't miss it. Looks for all the world like an extinct volcano.) Apart from the rather kewl sliding at top speed on the grassy, and f**k off steep, slopes, the ultimate for speed fiends has to be the pavement run from the loch halfway up to practically into Holyrood Palace itself.
  The panoramic views you get of Edinburgh can quite make you forget that you're really travelling in exess of 30m.p.h.
  Arthur's Seat probably looks like an extinct volcano because, rather oddly, it IS an extinct volcano. Also, it's probably highly illegal [anyone know if there are any byelaws, of whatever strength?] to skateboard down it because of the damage it would cause to the land.
• Also, there's a spot of good sport to be had at the New Kirkgate shopping centre at the Foot of Leith Walk. Intrepid skaters have long enjoyed zipping about during the day just to target the junkies that are known to hang about. You have to be cautious though. Things like falling off, getting caught up with or at the very worst 'huckled by the polis' can somewhat ruin your day.
